Swapped buttons on Xbox One Chatpad

I've had an xbox one controller chatpad for a while now. Recently, a problem came up where when I press the green or orange button and press a letter button, I enter a character that is not the corresponding letter to the key I pressed.

Like the W key has an @ and
å. You get '@' when you press the green button and W, and 'å' when you press the orange button and W.

But for me when I try to do either of those things it doesn't work. I just get a 'W'. Other keys can enter their alternate characters, but not the W key.

I updated both my console and my controller when I got the chatpad, and I always make sure the chatpad is plugged into the controller correctly. My region and location are correct (I set them on my console already), so that can't be the problem either.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

How do I see the serial number of my chatpad?

To see your chatpad serial number you have to unplug the chatpad from the controller and look at the label with a QR code on it on the side that connects to the controller. The text is small so you may need a magnifying glass to read it.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your chat pad. Here are a few steps to try

Solution 1: Check your language settings

Make sure that your console and chatpad language match and that you’re in a supported country. Your chatpad serial number ends with the letter B, E, F, G, or S to indicate which language it supports— US-English, UK-English, French, German, or Spanish.

To check your settings, follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
Select System > Settings > System.
Select Language & location to confirm or update your location and language to match your chatpad. Solution 2: Check to see if you are in Special Character key mode

You may be entering Special Character key mode if you’re pressing one of the ^, ~, ¨, `, or ‘ keys followed by a, e, i, o, u, or y. See the Special
Character key mode section above to understand this functionality.

Solution 3: Check the chatpad mode

Make sure that you’re not in or entering one of the special modes described earlier (such as Orange mode). If you see the Orange, Green, or Caps key lit, you’re in the corresponding mode. Exit the mode by pressing that lit key.
