Swap old elite hard drive to another

my old elites laser and tray are done.

If I buy a 2nd hand elite can I just plug my old 120 g he into it and keep all my games/saves?

Transferring data?

I have an old elite Xbox and I was wondering how I could transfer my plug in hard drive data to the one of the new modle elites which has a built in hard drive?

You should be able to plug in your current hard drive into a new Elite without issue. You may run into some issues with accessing your games, so be sure to do a

license transfer when you get the new console. I also suggest you make sure you purchase one second hand from a reputable store rather than Ebay or Craigslist; there's a higher chance of getting a banned console that way.

If it's got the hard drive in the slot on the bottom of the console then it's also a Slim even though it's listed as Elite. So you can swap the hard drives.

Being used it's definitely possible someone swapped it with the old 20gb hard drives.
