  1. Swap Mechanical HD with insider software to a new hard drive an SSD

    Hello,

I recently discovered that a friend I was trying to help out with an Xbox One X and I wanted to install an ssd and get the xbox software installed back up and working since the ssd is much faster in everyway possible. But since there is no way to ghost the hard drive over and you cannot download the offline osu1 files and setup the new ssd and it will error out with "e101 00000504 8B050041" it is impossible to install the software since it will error out each time. Installing the original working hd back in the xbox one x is fine with no issues. Is there a way around this or if you are a member of the insider program and have a special Dev version of the "OS version: 19041.4788.amd64fre.vb_release_xbox_dev_2011.201111-0000" Is there no way to do this upgrade? I have seen software that claim it can ghost the partitions and make this work but wasn't sure about that since xbox is very picky about these and might not work at all. The owner of the xbox also didn't realize they had the insider program or signed up for it. I was told they signed up for it to use an external kb and mouse for games but I thought that was included anyway on most newer games. Any assistance is helpful. I asked xbox tech support but they treated it as if it needed the osu1 offline update which I explained that didn't work. I got no help or not much help from that group.

Just like to add, unless your external drive is an SSD, don't bother. This game NEEDS an SSD, it will be unplayable on a mechanical hard drive.

    Xbox is not loading

    I think I know what's this.

    It's probably an Xbox one

Try to teardown you Xbox , remove the hard drive, connect it to your computer,

And then connect a 1tb SSD drive

Now you need to copy the hard drive to

The SSD drive , and then wait the computer finished copying all the data to the SSD drive. Now, put the SSD drive inside your Xbox where the hard drive was.

    Now try using your Xbox.

Now delete your profile and create a new one because the error code says it's glitched and it's sounds impossible to fix your profile.

Note: the SSD should make your Xbox around 10 times faster loading then the retail one.

XBox One external drive not recognized

Xbox doesnt really support anything less than a 1tb drive . Or recommend it. Try to use officially license xbox hds if possible
Actually the console easily supports drives of 128GB minimum for game storage. But these 'drives' must either be a proper hard drive or an SSD, a Flash drive won't cut it. I've got two drives hooked up, one 2TB HDD and a 500GB SSD. The 500GB SSD is considerably
faster at loading the maps on Battlefield V.

As for the official external drives, there's nothing technically special about them. Inside they're just standard Seagate 2.5" HDD's. Microsoft doesn't even make them. And the SSD Game drives are a complete rip off.

Expanding Xbox One S Internal Hard Drive

The largest original built in hard drive size is 1TB. While the drive inside the console is a 2.5'' SATA drive, it's not meant to be replaced as others already said.

You would need special software to be able to prepare a new drive for the console as you can't just swap the drives, and the PC is unable to read the Xbox drive without unlicensed software.

Therefore, instructions on how to replace the drive can't be discussed here.

As for the Backup thing: You don't have to. All your savegames are stored in the Xbox Cloud, and only copies of these are stored on the hard drive. Your purchased games are also downloadable again for free.

So if your console breaks, and you get a new one with an empty drive, simply sign in with your Microsoft Account email that you used before, and your games will appear in the "Ready to Install" section of the new console. After starting a game, your save
game will be downloaded as well.

So there is no need to backup anything.

If you're looking to get more storage space, do NOT try to open the console to change the drive. Simply buy yourself a nice USB 3.0 compliant external hard drive (or SSD), and connect that to the console. You can connect up to 3 external drives to your console.

After reinstalling Windows drive, I need to reinstall all of my Xbox APP games.

If you have a modern PC with an SSD as a boot drive you shouldn't need to keep resetting/reinstalling Windows. Unlike a mechanical hard drive, Windows won't slow down much on a SSD as long as you keep enough free space.

That being said, the copy protection for Windows Store/Xbox app is far too Draconian.
