Suspended over Taboo word

Hello, I would like to first start off by saying I am not trying to get anything changed. I just want some clarity is all.

Well recently to my surprise, I was suspended. I tried to access my account to prepare for a podcast I do through stream with a few of my mates. I went to the enforcement page to see what it was. I was able to review and try and have it overturned, so I
attempted to do so. I couldn't see what was said or even defend my point properly ( I submitted an idea for the Enforcement Team on this flaw). I waited to see if I could see the words that caused my suspension. Couldn't. I looked through recent messages and
couldn't find anything. So I eventually got my review back saying upheld. Then I finally saw what got me in trouble.

I was playing 2K19 and in a Walk-On game. My team is randoms, except for one friend. We are maybe one quarter in and one player on our team starts spamming me with party invites which are followed by messages. The player is mad that we are losing and starts
calling everyone trash. The player became super toxic and started ruining the game( I reported his game behavior) and sends me a message calling me trash. My reply is what got me suspended. I said:

" don't be [mod removed- profanity] petty, [mod removed- profanity]

Now where my family is from, that [mod removed- profanity] does not really mean anything. Mostly used towards one another in simple conversation. Australia really has no hatred on the word. I used it as a filler where some people would say bro,
pal, dude, etc. This word is taboo in America. Does Xbox Live use American English definitions for words? Do suspensions get based off American word prefence? Just tryna avoid this for future purposes lol.

I've never understood the taboo with reviving threads. Especially if it's by someone who's new to the forums. Get over yourself.

 

Well it wouldn't have been just the [Mod Removed – Profanity] word that was the cause of your suspension, and the enforcement team does not use the forums so I can't say 100% whether they base things solely on American English
definitions, but if a word is known to have negative connotations in any language it is usually frowned upon.

 

The best thing to do is to simply refrain from using any swear words at all over Xbox Live.

I can't tell you where they base their definitions for words.

I do understand where you are coming from this though (I'm Australian too) however I avoid swearing over Xbox Live as to do so would be to bread the code of conduct.

 

I would usually agree with you but that was the only statement in my feedback from enforcement. I think the lack of communication between player and enforcement is pretty bad. I didn't call him anything but petty

 

You are right. I mean I just didn't really think of it as anything. It's not uncommon to hear lol. But it is what it is. Learned what not to say

Is was used as an adjective. PG-13 movies are allowed to use like one or so

Per the code of conduct, profanity is not allowed on Live. Since Live is not rated, everything you do on Live has to remain E for everyone.

 

Well very good point. I did ask for clarity on the subject, so I appreciate the info. Microsoft does have a sponsored streaming service in which you can click to be Mature Audience recommended. So the code has some flexibility
