Suspended for replying to a troll.

I don't like moaning so I apologise in advance. Only when I feel unfairly treated.

I was playing Destiny 2 on xbox series X this weekend loving life as you do. Playing Iron banner, which is known to get pretty toxic. Not bungie's fault it's just how it is.. I am not the best PvP player to say the least. I also have not played as much as I did. So upon coming back in getting the flavour again I found I was getting destroyed by some of the better players as you do.

I decided to use the Jotun (A weapon that helps you get at least some kills and contribute to the team) for context I was trying to get an in-game triumph seal called iron lord and to say I was letting my teams down is an understatement, that is until I usedthe Jotun.

Within 12 hours I recieved 3 messages from 3 different players. However it's the second one that led to issues.

For context I never really recieve messages at all. At least not from strangers. I mainly would play on Playstation but since my friends are on xbox I have migrated over. I still have a ps5 but I seldom use it.

The person in question was in a game.of Iron Banner with me and was 'salty' as the say.
This person sent me an emoticon of a clown now please understand, I do have mental health issues, one of the ways it manifests is by not ignoring anyone regardless of what they said. I have GAD and Manic Episodes coupled with chronic depression. I try to take part in all aspects of gaming I even partak ein 'excrement' posting as I feel that is the culture although I do hate it for reasons that are about to become clear.

I responded to this individual something to the effect of 'your using KBM against console players the only clown here is you little virgin now of you pop nonce' now to anyone outside the UK nonce is a word used interchangeably and can be offensive (providing a certain context) this context was not met however. It is widely used in the UK it's aken to calling someone 'sus' in the US It is no more or less offensive than been called a clown. Especially when clown is not just a person that works at childrens functions but has become known to mean 'a fool, a jester' now as someone with mental health issues this IS offensive. I didn't report the person in question though as I do understand things get heated I just engaged back. They messaged again with an emoticon of a eyebrow raised emoji so again I used another uk meme and said 'suck your mum' within 15 minutes recieved a suspension and locked out of messaging people for 4 days. I am also a sherpa as and when I can be. I'm hardly Alex Jones.

When I appealed I recieved an email back saying that more or less what I said was offensive. After reporting the player like I was advised to, no action was taking against them.

My issue is why haven't they been suspended for instigating this interaction and furthermore reporting someone who they clearly offended. I don't play xbox to have people berate me and then hide behind xbox when I post back.

Irregardless of the report and block feature it's not that deep. I shouldn't have to report silly comments nor should I be suspended for them. The person that messaged me still has the messages they sent that offended me there to be seen, however mine are deleted like they were truly ghastly.

I loved gaming on the xbox ecosystem, I can't pretend I'm happy that people can wield it like a weapon though and hide behind it. Free from consequences. I wouldn't be writing this if the suspension was dealt out to both of us. It wasn't; only me. Which is unfair. As soon as they called me a clown it's fair game.

My gut tells me that due to the nature of the report and the speed it was dealt with this person is probably closely affiliated with Microsoft or Xbox. I say this because nothing has been done with them, although I informed xbox they had indeed offended me by calling me a clown. They took no action only against me. One hand washing the other perhaps? Even reading xbox's own TOS on the matter it states: trash talk and a little smack talk amongst like minded people is allowed but not if it doesn't promote discussion. Now why does sending an emoticon of a clown fall under that? Was the discussion he wanted to open up about clowns? I mean be serious. He used the emoticon to get around the bot that took action for him.. Then an employee has upheld it. At this point it is discrimination. To tell me I've no right to be offended and they have is outrageous.

Furthermore it is impossible to speak to someone at xbox over the phone about this so I feel unheard. It's clear random people can game the system to start negative interactions and then report. That was seemingly this individuals sole intent.

Put plainly the email I recieved saying 'we aim to make thos a place for everyone' well I don't think it includes me from what I can gather. How can someone begin by name calling and be protected under harassment rules? Name calling by it's very definition is a derivative of harassment. I merely returned the sentiment.

With my condition I don't feel welcome on the xbox ecosystem, the email I recieved said what I said was harassment so what I recieved to merit my reaction wasn't? You shouldn't be messaging anyone cheeky or argumentative messages unless you know you're likely to recieve it back. Also 4 days for such a thing is outrageous, my first ever time having such a thing happen as well.

This person clearly uses emoticons to get around the bot that assess these initially, this was during 2-5am in the UK on a Sunday morning I was trying to get my destiny 2 stuff done before the weekly reset. This whole debacle has left a sour taste in my mouth.

I know there's not really much can be done from here but it's more or less to open a discussion about why this can even happen I have seen other such instances on here and feel this is a problem. Never knew it was until it happened to me.

I will say however it's not all bad I have had good times as well, there's been occasions like around 2016 when I got into arguments with some people we are now friends and play together when we can. This is just a bit of a shock to the system for me personally I game as a form of escapism not get harassed online defend myself then get suspended. Until I see some fairness personally I'll cease to game on xbox. I am stuck on the unfairness of thissituation. Life may indeed be unfair but Xbox's TOS claim to be.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to game on other devices and will now do so. I have exhausted all means for conflict resolution and this isn't a fair platform. Maybe in theory but not in practice. I was working on my gamerscore (personal hobby helps give me a goal to work towards sounds silly to most I can imagine but it does wonders for my mental health) I can chase trophies and stuff elsewhere though.

This isn't about one console being better than the other btw they're both just as good as each other in my opinion.

This is primarily about the enforcement system and a number of the nuances and things ot doesn't and logically can't account for. Mentally ill people defending themselves being one of them.
