Suspected Modified Xbox bought second hand, cant change language PLEASE HELP!

Hi, I have recently bought an Xbox 360 w/Kinect (4gb) from someone on Gumtree. I took it home and the language appears to be in Russian (illegible characters) I managed to change the language to English, but when I went back, either half or none of the menus
were actually in English and still in Russian? I have tried several times, restarted the console etc and it just wont stick.

Also i tried to play a game (Battlefield 3) without signing in just to see if the console actually worked. but it kept coming up with a button password thing, again with the Russian all over it. (when the home menus showed as English)

My friend seems to think that maybe the software has somehow been modified? is there a way to rectify this? or to completely restore to factory settings? the unit doesn't seem to have been opened or tampered with, but I'm a complete novice with that stuff
so cant really speculate!!

Any help would be massively appreciated as this guy i bought it from online has now miraculously disappeared!!

Black ops 2 language change

Hi guys i just bought BO2 from spain and i cant change it to english anyone has some good advices to help me change the language of the game? i have to say that my language of the xbox is set to english and the region to UK do i have to try to change the
region to USA aswell? please help cuz i dont really like dubbed games.

Sounds like the Locale might be set to Russia as well. Try the steps listed at this link to change the locale of the console to your country.

Can't change language to set up xbox

I had the same issue when i bought a second hand xbox one x. I had to completely reset the Xbox back to factory and then start fresh. Try that out and it should work. If not contact the amazing Xbox Support team here, https://beta.support.xbox.com/contact-us

LA Noire.....always suspected it would be awful, but playing through it was such a grind. So over hyped as a game, bought it second hand for £7 and sold to a mate for £20....result. He has yet to play it lol

Hi, that's pretty much the case sadly. As a consumer do you not have the rights to return the Xbox to the store as it's not fit for purpose ? The stores should check these things before selling them on really.
