Surviving Mars Free Play Weekend?

I'm sorry this is issue is still persisting. I would recommend trying to
remove and re-add your account
from your Xbox (if you haven't already tried this).

Side Note: It is very important to make sure you know the primary email/password to the account before removing it from the console.

It's going to ask if you want help from the virtual agent select
no thanks,pick the category(Games)and just pick a contact method

Thanks Leslie, I contacted support and we tried deleting the account as you suggested, but it didn't help. I ultimately uninstalled Surviving Mars and when I attempted to reinstall, the Install option was no longer available - implying the Free-Play weekend
ended early for this title. The other two games did have the Install option, so my issue was indeed related to the Surviving Mars title alone.

I'm disappointed Microsoft didn't do a better job on this. Support staff was incredibly helpful, but this sort of thing should never happen. I spent three hours troubleshooting this issue. Where's the complaint department?

Yes, I'm an XBOX LIVE GOLD member (just renewed recently). I was able to get the two Games with Gold games made available on the 16th, so it would seem my membership is OK. I'm running off my XBOX ONE console and I do not share my subscription. I did just
try restarting the console, but it made no difference.

Thanks for reaching out to us. This a free-play weekend for NBA 2K19, Rainbow 6 Siege and Surviving Mars so long as you have an active Xbox Live Gold membership.

Since you're getting the message about owning the game or app, is it possible that you are gold/game sharing with someone else? Please let us know a few more details (home console, Xbox Live subscription, etc.) so that we are better able to understand the
situation to best assist you. Or if you would prefer, you can
request a call back from Xbox Support directly to troubleshoot.

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue. Since you were able to download the game Surviving Mars from the Microsoft Store successfully to play and are now being asked to purchase the game, receiving the error code 0x803F8001, it
may be due to one of a couple of reasons.

Surviving Mars was recently a game that took part in Free Play Days for Xbox Live gold members this past weekend beginning at 12:01 a.m. PDT on Thursday, May 16 through 11:59 p.m. PDT on Sunday, May 19. If you were able to download and play the game
during this period with no issues then this may be why. Free Play Days: Build a Red Planet Colony This Weekend in Surviving Mars

Other reasons may be due to game sharing with someone who currently owns the game, or via a download through Xbox Game Pass.

Should you no longer be game sharing, have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription, or only got the game during the Free Play Days for the game, then you would need to purchase the game outright in order to continue to play.
