How the hell do you guys know so much about this game? I haven't a clue.

 

My tip is to invest in the Strong Back perk all the way to rank 4. Not only will you be able to actually move when you are carrying a ton of junk (a common problem), but then you can fast travel back to a workshop to offload it all. Clear the enemies,
and then spam that A button! This combination allows me to pick up every piece of lootable trash in every location.

Another tip is to make sure you plant plenty of corn, mutfruit and tato. Use the highest level water purifier, as it will periodically put a purified water in the workshop inventory. Combine these to make vegetable starch, a renewable source of adhesive.
You want adhesive. You need adhesive. You will run out of adhesive hourly!

 

Well I guess this weekend I'm cooking drugs and making adhesive.

 

Fallout 4 has a working cover system.

If you get close enough to an object that you lower your gun, you're considered "in cover".

Going to an edge and pressing aim while in first person will allow you to "cover shoot" making your character lean out and aim, releasing the aim button will return you to cover.

You can do this around corners and over objects like low walls and cars.

It doesn't seem to work for me. I just use my eyes or ears. Super mutants usually give themselves away with their "DID YOU HEAR SOMETHING? OH I GUESS IT WAS MY IMAGINATION. I'M GOING TO CONTINUE CHEWING ON THIS LEG BONE, BUT I'M WATCHING."

 

they have to be in your line of sight for it to work! you can spot mines also.

 

Here's a survival tip: If you are still a bit weak, or a noob, stick to the northern and western parts of the map. Everything to the east and south have much tougher enemies. Only venture that way when you are ready for it.

 

Become a Mutfruit and Purified Water baron and make some caps; force those layabout settlers to look after fields of the stuff and slap down an Industrial Water Purifier where you can - mangaed to get one in a tiny bit of water that was creeping onto a Settlement.

Glasses and some clothes raise Charisma for extra caps. Grape Mentas also makes prices 10% better by raising Charisma by 5.

Like the other guy said you can make your own adhesive, also you can Chem up some cutting fluid and get 3 oil if you find you are always running out.

I also recently went bat-droppings crazy with a sword when I ran out of ammo and had a fun time and feel it is essential to have a good Melee weapon, so now I'm unlocking the Blacksmith perks to see what I can add to Melee weapons.

Oh...don't forget you have power armour, no point having it as a decoration.

 

When you find a weapon that has a mod you want, replace that mod with the "standard" version of it. For example, killer scope on a rifle...replace it with normal sights. That mod is now in your inventory available for your other rifles. Do this with all
the mods you want, THEN scrap the weapon (or sell, whatever).

Really? Now I feel stupid; I've been avoiding that pond and wishing I could do something about the rads. Fixing that first thing tonight!

 

Use manual saves in addition to quicksave. If you only quicksave then it will just update the most recent quicksave file. If you do a manual save then you be able to go back to that even if you have quicksaved more recently. I used that after getting diamond
city security all mad at me.

 

Early on invest in the Scrapper perks Level 1 and 2, then pick up every weapon and armor piece you find and whenever you get full head back to a settlement and scrap all the weapons and armor you don't want or need at the ARMOR/WEAPON Workbenches. You'll
never want for building materials again or parts to repair you power armor
