SURVIVAL TIPS

Ok folks lets post some top tips for Wasteland survival, some of us are experienced wanderers others not so much. I will start with my top tip.

Save any meat from animals you kill, (anything from a radroach up), do not eat the raw meat as its full of rads. Save it until you come to a cooking station then cook up whatever you have. The cooked meat is radiation free (unless you binge on it then
it can have some rad effects) and depending on the animal will also provide better health than a stimpack and may also provide an AP or other buff, Roasted Radstag for example can help you carry more if you need to in an emergency. Brahmin rib eye steaks
are awesome!

Spec Ops Survival tips/pointers

Anyone have any tips or pointers for playing survival? is there a guide online anywhere showing the best places to set up shop? Thanks.

thanks! did not know that! the thing that helps me the most is sneaking up on areas and as soon as it says I have discovered it I quicksave before I enter! if its to hard I go back and get my power suit! another thing is using jet to slow things down! that
combined with vats and shotgun equals win!

 

Set the difficulty to 'Very Easy'.

 

Combine Jet with Med X at a chemical station for an awesome combo that slows time and gives you damage protection. The combo drugs are much better and worth more if you wanna be a Wasteland drug dealer!

 

I've always been hesitant to use drugs because of the chance of getting addicted and then having to seek a remedy, but lately some of the enemies have been really difficult for me, so I like jet and Psycho. Be careful if you wander into Fallons Department
Store. It's got a couple of legendary super mutant fighters that will just pummel you.

 

Yes sorry Jet and Psycho is the one!, don't forget your Addictol and pop away.

Warning don't go into the Museum of Witchcraft unless your nails hard!

 

Okay, staying away from that place for now.

 

I wont be going back there until I either have a full battalion of Brotherhood behind me or I have gone up about 25 levels!!!

 

Hacking tip, once you use up three tries, use the cursor to highlight any double ended brackets (parentheses or whatever they are called) once they highlight and you enter them eg ("$%^) then it will remove a dud keep finding them and doing it and you
usually get your tries reset as well.

 

oh that's a good tip. I usually back out and then start over when I'm almost out of tries.

 

- If you send a "settler" off on a supply line (RB) it will allow you to share all of your building resources among all settlement locations to build. (NOTE: The physical counts of items in that settlement's workshop will only show what's stored there at
that location. If you try to build it will show you the total amount you have.)

- If you salvage the 5 barrels in the water at the Drive in settlement the water and area around it will no longer be radioactive. Pop a couple of Rad-X doses before getting near it.

 

Quicksave,Quicksave , Quicksave

Saved my butt several times. First time I ran to Diamond City I would run for a minute, then quick save. I do it all the time now. That way if it goes down hill I can stop and re think the plan.

 

But once in a while save to another file as a backup.

Like for instance, if you are walking through some back alleyway and you quicksave and a NANOSECOND later you get hit with a mini nuke from a Super Mutant Suicider, all you will be able to do is relive your last second over and over. : / (Almost happened
to me in front of Fallon's Department Store)
