Surround sound via optical cuts out after 10-20 seconds

Bought one of those media remotes today and came home to test it out. Turned on the Xbox and about 10 seconds after it auto signs me in the sound cuts out completely. No idea what's going on as it has been working just fine since installing the March update
and setting up Dolby Digital via optical/bitstream. I really don't think it's the cable as the sound does work for a short time, then just stops. I can switch over to hdmi sound, but can't get my rear speakers to output anything, just the fronts. the Xbox
support rep didn't seem to have a clue and had me do the disconnect all wires and restart procedure twice, which I'd hard restarted before calling, and made sure the cables were all firmly in place to begin with. The chat suddenly ended after I told them I
had already read the articles they were linking me to which covered surround sound connecting. Anyone else having a similar issue?

    :)

  2. Optical out patch coming soon ?

If your receiver supports DTS surround sound, then you can get surround sound from your XB1 via optical cable. Right now it's the only option for surround sound via optical. It would be nice to know when they're going to start rolling out some system updates.

    Surround Sound not completely working

Whenever using both 5.1 and 7.1 uncompressed, some of the audio is cut out. It seems that audio specifically infront (car engine in forza 5, radio chatter in bf4) is cut out, while the rest works.

The current setup that I am using is the same with the Xbox360 (which worked fine), where the console is connected to the TV via HDMI, then an optical cable runs through a Turtlebeach headset thingy, and another optical cable connects to a LG Dvd player
(set to optical input), then to the surround sound speakers.

The other devices are all connected to the TV via HDMI so the Dvd player does all the surround sound. All the other devices work perfectly fine still. Is it something to do with the Xbox One not supporting LG surround sound systems or should I just jiggle
the cables and hope it works.

The surround sound doesn't work through my headset aswell (which supports 7.1 uncompressed).

  4. Surround sound via optical cuts out after 10-20 seconds

hey I just got an answer from a community ambassador. It was a different problem but related to the update that allowed surround sound through hdmi. I was getting crackling that just propagated by itself. Apparently there are sound issues in software that
should be fixed in April's update. I don't know that that is the source of your issue but seems likely to me considering how much trouble the whole xbox one software has been.

I guess I'll wait it out until the April update to see if that takes care of it.

Ended up buying another optical cord and the issue hasn't been solved. I know my surround sound works as on cable tv I can hear it, as well as using Bluetooth from my iphone to my Samsung receiver. This is another software issue no doubt. No clue why it
just now starts as it's been fine since the March update. Contacting Xbox support doesn't help as their inky solution is to keep restarting and unplugging cords.

No USB video playback on Xbox One. WTF!!!

They need to fix surround sound via optical input first.
