    Surround Sound Support

Is there any way to get full 5.1 Surround Sound (preferably Dolby or DTS) for apps such as YouTube, Netflix, WWE Network or Media Player? I get the full experience when playing games and watching Blu-Rays but I'd like to get the most out of my sound
system. It only works fully with 5.1 uncompressed stereo through HDMI but the quality is nowhere near as good. I've tried through HDMI and optical straight to amplifier, through the tv to the amp, etc. Thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated

    :)

    5.1 Surround Sound support

I've fixed it. For anyone else with this issue you have to go into video settings and change the output from 'auto' to 'HDMI'.

    5.1 Surround Sound support

I'll try keep this as brief and concise as possible because I've tried a lot of different setups and wasted a lot of money trying out different things but I'm still having issues with surround sound compatibility. OK, quick run down of my setup...

    Xbox one (obviously)

    Techika 40' LED TV

Phillips surround sound unit (note: only accept phono in)

    This Musou audio reciever. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01G6PW280/ref=pe_385721_51767431_TE_dp_1

So I've followed all the steps on the support page. I've changed my audio settings to surround sound. I've connected the Xbox to the receiver by HDMI, receiver to TV by HDMI, receiver to surround sound by LR phono. I've also connected S/PDIF from Xbox to
    receiver.

In the audio output settings, the HDMI out settings will only accept stereo uncompressed. Selecting 5.1 gets an error message saying the reciever doesn't support it, although it is set to 5.1

Optical audio out only produces sound in stereo uncompressed, when I select bitstream out I get no error message, just no sound.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong here because I seem to have exhausted everything

  5. Never have it go through the TV I had sound problems for months took a lot of playing around with cables settings youtube videos/forums to learn about sound

Your best turning HDMI audio off then using dolby digital not DTS into your amp to make sure there is no sound coming from HDMI and remember most youtube videos will not be 5.1

How can it not be a support issue? The Beta Surround Sound is flawed and the Optical Surround Sound is missing Dolby completely. Who would fix it.

    Sound problems

    Hey there,

Some apps such as YouTube do not support surround sound on Xbox One. If some games & apps work with surround sound, while specific apps do not, the best route to take will be to reach out to the developers of those specific apps to inquire about possible
    surround sound support.

    Hope this helps!
