Surround sound on games, Netflix and Amazon... but not on TV tuner, and BBC iPlayer?

I have my XBone connected through my Yamaha sound processor. I have the USB Digital TV Tuner. I have found that I do not get surround sound with the TV Tuner and some other apps, including iPlayer. I do however get surround sound on all games, Netflix and
Amazon prime instant video (or whatever it is called these days).

FYI I've tried a whole bunch of settings but currently:

- Main Audio out set as 7.1 Uncompressed in Video / Audio settings (have tried 5.1 uncompressed and DD - same)

- Using HDMI from XBone to processor and onto TV

- TV App settings set to surround sound

- Also got the optical cable connected from XBone to Processor for testing. Currently set to bitrate? and Dolby digital. All settings work exactly as per the HDMI connection, same set of apps do and don't have surround sound.

I've even got the TV App set up to control both my processor and screen on Console on and off. Works AOK. The processor is definitely seeing whatever settings I set correctly, right number of channels as selected in settings, DD vs DTS if I set either of
those.

Can't figure out what to try next. Any ideas?

Surround Sound issues using XBOX ONE (games work in 5.1, apps only in stereo)

First off, I love my Xbox One. I'm a Day One owner. But I'm having similar sound issues using the optical out.

My Netflix app won't output surround sound correctly. All my games output surround flawlessly and have since day one. Also, last weekend I installed the Amazon Instant Video app and the surround sound works flawlessly with 5.1 programs in that app. So it
appears to be a problem with the Netflix app itself.

My sound is outputting through the optical out to my Marantz AVR. My usual audio setting on the Xbox One is set to Optical >> Bitstream out >> DTS Digital Surround. Using this setting, I get only the left/right channels in Netflix—no center channel or surround
at all. If I change the setting to Optical >> Stereo Uncompressed, I get only the center channel and no left/right channels in Netflix—and still no surround at all.

I've seen a few other people with this problem, but no solutions. Any ideas? (I've tried hard-resetting my Xbox, etc.) Like I said, my games and the Amazon Instant Video app all output 5.1 sound perfectly. But not Netflix.

TV Tuner Stereo output only?

I also have the same issue. Regardless of setting the TV audio to Stereo or Surround Sound, I only get 2.1 audio. I only got the xbox one and tuner a few days ago; did 5.1 surround sound work ever w/ the Hauppauge tuner earlier on before a recent system
update? Or has it never worked?

 

Did you go to Settings>TV & Oneguide>Audio & video>Audio>Select Surround sound? This worked for me.
