Surround Sound not working with Apps/TV

I've had my xbox one now since day one and had it setup for mostly games. I use either my surround sound (works great) or gaming headphones with optical to the base (works great). I recently decided to "chord cut" and have started using my setup for Hulu,
Netflix, Vudu, sling tv, etc as well as tv through an HD antenna and digital tuner.

I noticed the sound isn't right and realized that i'm not getting sound from my rear speakers when using any of the "chord cutting" apps. I decided to play around with the settings tried all the various surround options in the audio section as well as adjusting
the stereo to surround in the tv section. Neither of these changed the sound to use the back speakers. I will also not the center speakers as well as the right and left play voices and all sound; not how it should be.

My setup:

Xbox one to Pioneer receiver with HDMI

Headphones from xbox with optical

Audio issues

I know MS did not make the fox now and Netflix apps but so far there is no surround sound when using these apps. I have tried running sound through HDMI and optical. I have enabled the beta surround for tv but that is only for the pass through sound which
is working just fine. All I can figure is the signal for the different apps does not support surround which is sad. Also picture quality is way better even streaming from my PC to my tv on Netflix and other programs vs the Xbox one. I am excited to see this
all come together.

 

XB1 Surround Sound Issue

The Xbox One doesn't currently output surround sound. However, Microsoft is working on it and will be updating the Xbox One to output in surround sound soon.

I'm having the same issue as well, with a similar setup (JVC stereo though).
