    Surround Sound not working after update?


    Hi all,

    Is anyone having a problem with the Surround Sound not working after the update?

    I have a pair of Astro headphones plugged into the optical out. In the Xbox menu, I have selected 'Bitstream Out' and then 'DTS Digital Surround'. No sounds comes out of the headphones (except for a bit of white noise in the left ear speaker). Am I doing
    anything wrong? Is anyone else having the same problems?

    Does anyone have a clue how to get surround sound post March update?

    XB1 Surround Sound Issue

    The Xbox One doesn't currently output surround sound. However, Microsoft is working on it and will be updating the Xbox One to output in surround sound soon.

    Ok, I found something. If I select "Stereo Uncompressed" in sound setting in Xb1, my AVR gives me the "Dolby PLII Movie" and "DTS Neo:6 Cimena" output options. Selecting this, I get output form whole 5.1 system, but the Input signal detected by AVR is only
    a 2 channel input. I believe my Marrantz is taking the uncompressed stereo and converting it into 5.1 output. This is also the case with the videos I played back through chromecast. Is this pure surround or just a lot of sound from all the speakers.

    In contrast, if I select 5.1 uncompressed in audio setting in XB1, the input is detected as 5.1, but output is only from front, center and sub. I am getting super confused.

    Instead of DTS try the Dolby, with my TBX42's on DTS nothing, Dolby I got it back to how it was on 360, just something to try, gl.

    My xbox still does not show a dolby option in the optical out on my settings. The Dolby 5.1 and 7.1 options are there for the HDMI out option though. Bitstream is off though. Do the options show up in bitstream?

    Hi Sgt7212, yes in the Optical Audio you need to select 'Bitstream Out'. After that, try selecting 'Dolby Digital'. This worked for me. Apparently my Astro headphones are not compatible with 'DTS Digital Sound'. When selecting 'Dolby Digital' it should be
    in surround sound if your speakers, amp or headset are compatible.

    My xbox still does not show a dolby option in the optical out on my settings. The Dolby 5.1 and 7.1 options are there for the HDMI out option though. Bitstream is off though. Do the options show up in bitstream?
