    Surround sound issue


    Ok I have a 5.1 surround sound system with a receiver/dvd player combo and that's connected with a audio optical cable directly to the Xbox one and hdmi to the tv settings on xbox are optical out, bitstream, dolby digital and for games and blue ray 5.1 surround
    works perfect but for hulu and music and dvds even certified for 5.1 surround only come in on my front two speakers and the woofer (2.1 stereo sound) shouldn't my xbox be smart enough to mix the sound to all speakers if it's coming through as stereo sound?

    Surround Sound Issue

    I have been trying to get surround sound out of my xbox one when using netflix, youtube, or twitch. I have an Yamaha RX-V675 and it can process stereo sound into surround sound but when I use my xbox it turns it into stereo no matter what. This is annoying
    and for the price of the box one would think that this would not be a problem. My xbox 360 works find with all these apps. From what people are telling me this is a software issue that needs to be fixed so I am posting here to find out when it will be fixed
    or if it can be fixed with some sort of update that did not get to my xbox one.

    i have the same code and problem and i have it going to a ONKYO HD receiver... so i'm not pass it thru the tv first..

    Well, after looking up the manuals for your TV and surround sound systems it looks like you have two options. The first and easier of the two is to get an analog RCA audio cable and hook it up to the audio out from you TV into the audio in on your Sony system.
    That way you should only have to change the input on your surround system to TV/Video to get your Xbox going through surround sound.

    The other option would be to buy a digital optical to analog RCA converter that would allow you to hook the Xbox up directly to the surround sound system instead of routing the sound through the television first. Here's an example of one,

    How can it not be a support issue? The Beta Surround Sound is flawed and the Optical Surround Sound is missing Dolby completely. Who would fix it.

    XBox One and Sony STR-DH540 reciever issues

    Same receiver, i solved the issue by enabling surround sound in xbone sound device settings -> troubleshooting.

    It requires a console restart then 5.1 surround works.

    I see the delay in all audio :(. It's enough that I here two clicks when I move the cursor around on screen, and unbearable with dialog on DVDs. To double check it wasn't the DTS processing of my amp I hooked the 360 back up, and played some discs that have
    DTS soundtracks. There is a tiny delay (which is to be expected), but it's totally watchable. Play the same DVD on the Xbox One, and it's terrible.

    I've also noticed that DVDs would play back at 50Hz on the 360 (it would switch my TV to that mode when the disc was started), but on the One it just stays at 60Hz. I'm guessing this is because of the fancy picture in picture, but this is going to be a real
    problem I think.
