    Surround Sound Headset?

Looking for a new headset now that they are supported, and I did a bit of research on the surround sound headset options. Although this information isn't very easy to find (for some reason), it seems that Dolby Digital isn't supported by the headset
stereo adapter, but it IS supported through the optical output in the rear of the system? If that's the case, would I not be able to take a headset with multiple analog jacks (Razer Tiamat, for example), put the microphone jack into the stereo adapter on the
controller, and then find some kind of optical adapter to hook the rest of the channels up to the output in the back of the system to get 5.1 or 7.1 through the headset? If so, do such adapters even exist?

    :)

Xbox video store - no surround sound

All the movies list only English audio and no surround sound. I know they used to advertise surround sound. Does anyone know if the movies still have surround sound? even my purchased movies don't show surround sound. No DTS or Dolby

    Surround Sound Headset?

This is a good question, but I've never considered doing something like this before. If you wait a bit longer, there will probably be a patch come out (or another adapter) to enable Dolby Digital capabilities.

    Surround Sound Headset?

I have Astro A40's and they do just that. You plug your chat cable into the adapter and take the audio feed via optical directly from the console. you need the MixAmp to do this. Other manufacturers do similar ones, but I can only talk about the ones I have
I'll let other folks give you the other options.

    See more here: AstroGaming.com

Is the difference really noticeable? The A40's are out of my price range, but I have seen a few other models that come with mixers. Do the A40's come with an optical adapter, or is that included?

I had a pair of A40's and now have A50's. The Astros come with everything you need (Optical cable, USB, Xbox360 chat cable), except for the chat adapter. A friend of mine owns Trittons. He says that they are his favorite. Turtle Beach is coming out with
much better products now than they had a few years ago.

I swear by my Astros. But if you want a cheaper headset that "gets the job done", I hear that the Xbox Stereo Headset actually isn't that bad. I wouldn't know personally. I haven't tried it yet.

the A40's sound fantastic and the voice audio is great too.

The A40's come with everything you need, inc the cables. However you are right, they are not cheap! I'm not sure if you can buy the MixAmp on it's own to use with existing headsets.

TurtleBeach I know make some good ones as well, have a look at those too.

    Surround Sound Headset?

    Thanks for the info!

I'm looking at the Tiamat, which has the 6x 3.5mm jacks and no optical. Is there some kind of adapter I can use for this?

I think the Razer Tiamat is meant more for PC/Pro Audio, not sure if it'll work with the Xbox One in surround sound mode as there is no optical. You can plug the left/right in but then you probably wont get pseudo surround sound from that.

Again, I haven't tried just commenting on what I see from them, maybe someone who has them will be able to fill you in more.

Sorry, can't edit my post. Razer say themselves that it is designed for the PC without Xbox/PS support.

they recommend you look at their Chimaera 5.1 range instead.

I'm trying to find a good 7.1 pair, but it's proving to be a little difficult.

It looks like many models don't feature optical outputs, sadly.

The Tritton's (as mentioned by AzN8z3r08) might be an option for you, just check out how they connect up for chat so the work with Xbox One.

They don't mention PC compatibility, just Xbox.

How do headsets work on the xb1?

You still need to purchase a headset that has surround sound available on it. The Xbox is not able to make a stereo headset give surround sound. Hope this helps!

Xbox One "'STEREO' Headset Adapter" clarity? Stereo or Simulated Surround Sound.

Its a conspiracy. MSFT did not release simulated surround sound on purpose. It is a marketing strategy. Turtlebeach and Polk headsets are ready and capable of simulating surround sound as soon as the firmware is released. The Xbox headset will NOT properly
be able to simulate surround sound. So, to boost their sales they made it to their advantage by ensuring NO next gen controller headset has surround sound from the controller. The MSFT headset actually sounds pretty good and is way cheaper then the XO7
and Polk (I bought them all). Think i'm crazy? If you read different posts you will see people saying how they are buying the MSFT headsets since there is no controller surround sound and because they are cheaper.

    surround sound headsets?

O think no the reason why their are no official surround sound headsets is because the spdif currently doesn't support surround sound, only stereo. Be a bit of a waste (and a possible legal nightmare) to release surround sound headsets, if the Xbox One
can currently in not do stereo.

Please DO NOT Buy the Turtle Beach XO Fours

Apparently both the XO4 and XO7 are both tuned for stereo and surround sound. But it seems that it's Microsoft who are currently restricting surround sound.

These headsets get the game sound by just connecting to the headset adapter and the controller. No connection to the console is needed. These headsets will accept whatever signal is sent to them from the controller, at the moment, Microsoft is limiting that
to just stereo. If Microsoft update to send surround sound, then these headsets are ready for that.

    Hopefully that makes sense

Unable to use chat headset and HDMI surround sound on OneX and SeriesX

Thank you. And to be clear so that I can make sure I am understanding correctly, the behavior you're expecting is that when plugging in a mono headset it is for not just chat but to pass game and chat audio to the headset? or is the mono headset only meant to pass chat while the surround sound system continues to cast game and console audio and is switching the TV/Surround sound audio from its settings? Thus when unplugging the surround sound system works as intended but does not work as intended when a mono headset is plugged in.

With the sony headset are you trying to pass all sound through the headset? or through the headset and the surround sound system?

    Thanks,

    John
