    Surround Sound Crackling

Really confused on what audio settings I need to use for my Xbox One and surround sound system. I've been messing around with various settings so far but all of them seem to cause some sort of crackling out of my speakers. Here is my current setup: Xbox
One is connected to TV via HDMI, with an optical audio cable running to a Panosonic 5.1 surround receiver. Should I be using Bitsteam Out, HDMI uncompressed, or something else?

    :)

Chat adapter??? More money out of my pocket...

Not only that but the chat adopter is buggy/missing feature. There is crackling sound that you can hear when everything else is quiet like navigating though the dashboard screen. Also the adapter is also only in stereo so any surround sound headphone that
is plug in the controller won't get surround sound (it is rumor that the Turtle Beach XO headset suppose to be surround sound and that why they are overprice). If you want a console that doesn't have all this set back and bs then go get a PS4. The Xbox One
brand name does fit well for this console, because we went backward in features.

Audio Crackling has made a return with the most recent update.

I have the same problem, I'm not sure if it happened for me before the fall creators update but it could have been. I have my bitstream format set to Dolby digital and I can hear the crackling and popping when sounds come from the Xbox UI. If I set it to
DTS surround sound I don't hear the crackling but then the audio is off from the video and it's really distracting during movies. I mostly use my Xbox to play blurays.

crackling sounds like cable or loose connection interference (had that happen a lot with headphones & older jacks). Did that fix it?

    no surround on x1?

Ya i plug my surround sound system through digital optical and all I get is distorted sound occasionally (crackles) and no 5.1 . There are no crackles through my tv to surround or xbox 360 through surround. I will be sending this unit back if no sound
update fixes this but not until I test it a little longer.

DTS reverting back to Uncompressed 7.1

I actually have to turn HDMI audio OFF completely and use stereo uncompressed under digital optical just to get my 5.1 surround sound to not "pop/crackle" when navigating menus/playing games. That "pop/crackling" was driving me nuts the system doesnt "pop/crackle"
when set to just TV but nor does my surround system "pop/crackle" when connected to my TV/Xbox 360. Never done that before...did MS cheap out on the audio system for their "all in one" media box or is this an isolated incident with my 2008 phillips surround
    I wonder.
