Xbox One sends choppy audio signal to receiver

I have a Denton AVR 4306 and the best audio has been with DTS Surround and Surround Sound Beta enabled, no audio issues at all. I seem to remember 5.1 uncompressed not sounding very good,

Dolby digital on XBOX Series X

    Hi Ehsaan,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! We are sorry to hear about your issue and would like to help out. I have done some research on the soundbar in question LG SL6Y: 3.1 Channel Sound Bar w/DTS Virtual X & High Resolution Audio | LG USA and it appears that the soundbar does not support DTS:X or Dolby Atmos due to it not supporting 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound but is does support DTS: Virtual:X which the Series X does not.

With this particular soundbar your only audio option will be stereo uncompressed. I am linking the Xbox Support page concerning console audio settings so that you may see what your audio options are for your Series X console. Choosing speaker audio settings on your Xbox console | Xbox Support

Xbox Series X audio broken for everything except stereo

    Hello AbeAustin,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing audio issues with your Xbox Series X and your Onkyo TX-NR6050 receiver. This sounds like a frustrating problem, and I will do my best to help you resolve it.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that there might be a compatibility issue between your receiver and the Xbox Series X audio formats. Some possible steps you can try are:

    - Make sure your receiver has the latest firmware update installed. You can check this by following the instructions on the Onkyo website: Onkyo | Homepage (onkyo-av.com)

    - Try using a different HDMI cable to connect your Xbox Series X and your receiver. Some HDMI cables might not support the bandwidth required for some audio formats.

    - Try changing the HDMI audio settings on your Xbox Series X. Go to Settings > General > Volume & audio output > HDMI audio. Try setting it to Bitstream out and see if that makes a difference.

    - Try changing the audio format settings on your receiver. Go to Setup > Audio > Audio Format. Try setting it to Auto or PCM and see if that works.

I hope this helps and you can enjoy your Xbox Series X with full surround sound soon.

No surround sound with Xbox Series X and old Denon receiver

    Hello!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are trying to find a way for your surround sound system to work like it use to. It sounds like the issue may be related to the changes in audio options on the Xbox Series X.

One thing you can try is to change the audio output format on your Xbox Series X to "DTS Digital Surround" instead of "Dolby Digital" if available. This may help to restore the 5.1 surround sound that you were previously experiencing.

Additionally, you may want to check the settings on your Denon receiver to ensure that it is set up to receive and process the correct audio format. You may need to check the user manual or contact the manufacturer for your receiver to determine the correct settings.

If those steps above are already tried, we would like to ask for these details:

    • May we know what is the make and model of your TV?
    • What are the options you have for Bitstream format aside from Dolby Digital?
    • Have you tried playing a game on this set up: Xbox audio option to "Dolby Digital" and my receiver to "Dolby PLII"? Will the rear speakers not continue to output audio, or it will output audio in selective timeframe.

Last resort for this is to upgrade your receiver however, let us exhaust all options first before upgrading.

    Sincerely,

EA audio problems - does BF3 have in-game volume control?

After some heavy google research i think I've found a solution but would be interested on anyones thoughts.

So at the moment my audio setup is Xbox > TV > Surround Sound, but it appears this may cause the issue because most TV's dont output 5.1 surround sound so if I were to use optical audio to go xbox > surround sound, this may fix the issue...
