Surge protector in fuse box enough to protect from power outage?

    Hi!

Didnt know where to post this technical question.

I have heard before that power outage can make huge powerspikes/overvolt when the power turns on again.

What have happened here a couple times by a year is that the power have been lost, and coming back, last time was yesterday and it was off for like 1 second, pc and other equippment was turned off when it happened, but still connected to the outlet in the
    wall.

We have surge protector in the fusebox in the house. They say it removes the biggest spikes and protect our devices taking damage from lightning strike.

Question is if this surge protector in fuse box protect from the overvoltage that happens when the power have been gone and return again? Like with power outage.

Could the devices be fine after it’s still connected to wall when it happen? Because of the surge protector in the fusebox?

Thanks for the support i can get about this.

    :)

Surge protector in fuse box enough to protect from power outage?

Both the Xbox One S and X have inbuilt surge protection.

    AHHH...Not Again!!!

The Xbox One power brick has an internal fuse that will blow to help protect the system. Surge protectors have a much lower tolerance before they'll trip and are far better for protecting your system.

The internal fuse in the power brick can't be replaced (sealed unit) so even if the fuse threshold was set low enough any power surge would brick your brick. Always use a surge protector and make sure that's what it is and not a simple power strip.

Xbox one x have surge protector, but can it be damaged from hdmi from TV that dosnt have?

Yes thats the big question, since microsoft make xbox with inbuilt surge protector it would sound wierd that it still can take damage, if the tv or router get power spike from power outage, and from that it transfered into xbox from lan cable or hdmi cable,
so if the surge protector can protect it completly then it cant be connected to tv/routers without surge protection?

Just a though that i got after i have had two power outage last week because someone work in the area. So im not sure if the xbox is safe or not when this power outage happens.

We also have overvoltage protector in our fusebox in the house, that dosnt protect our items at all when it comes to power outage? Just protect on lightningstrike?

Xbox one keeps turning off after a short period.

    Hi Colin,

Most power strips also function as a surge protector and that has been known to degrade the internal power supply over time since the Xbox's power supply includes a fuse that serves as a surge protector. The power supplies' fuse can get damaged in the event
of a power surge since the power strip may have affected the efficiency of the Xbox's power surge protection. This is why we always recommend to plugging in the Xbox directly into the socket most of the time. The Xbox will work if plugged into a power strip
but the risk of damaging the fuse is still a possibility.

My suggestion is to try another Xbox One S power cable if possible and if that doesn't work then the internal power supply is probably damaged and would need to be sent in for repair.

Day One Console - Burnt Out? Help needed!

the OP says he swapped a fuse in the plug. if he did that in in the power brick, which DOES have a fuse in it, then he probably blew the warranty on it. also, if you plug your xbox one's power brick into a surge protector, you likely WILL blow it. the xbox
one's power brick was not designed to be plugged into a surge protector, just the normal wall outlet
