    The advice is to not us extension cables and to not use external surge protection as these can mess up performance and clash with the built in surge protection.

    Hi,

    Ideally you shouldn't use any surge protectors with Xbox One consoles. The Xbox One power supply is already surge protected.

    Adding surge protection can make the console unstable.

    Hi, are you asking about surge protection? You should not use surge protectors with the One X or One S, they have multi voltage power supplies (for world wide use) with built in surge protection.

    The Xbox One's power supply has it's own surge protector built in. If you use a plug or adapter with its own surge protector you are effectively double surge protecting the console which can cause some very odd behaviour, exactly like what your are describing.


    Either use a known working adapter without surge protection (that's also not overloaded), or plug your console directly into the mains, with no no surge protection in-between.
