Surfing the web on Xbox one

My husband refuses to let me surf the web on our Xbox one because he is bound determined that it will end up with a virus. Is this possible? All I really want to do it watch episodes on pbs.com and live stream my church service on Sundays. Also... He absolutely
will not allow me to watch DVDs on it either. Blue rays yes. DVD no. You can actually put a DVD in an Xbox one right? Thanks in advance guys! (Or girls).

    :)

why some websites crash I.E. APP

I was having the same problem, but its easilly fixed.

What you do is do a hard reset on your Xbox One, then go to your PC and turn it on, and then use your PC to surf the web.

Consoles and web surfing doesnt mix well.

  5. There is absolutely no way your Xbox One can get a virus. Internet Explorer on Xbox One is limited. It can not run add-on's. It does not support Flash, ActiveX, Java or even Microsoft's own Silverlight plugins and it can not download or run malicious
code or software. In short, browsing the web on the Xbox One is safer than browsing on a typical PC/Laptop. It's totally safe.

It is unlikely you will be able to watch episodes of shows on PBS as I believe pbs.com uses Flash, which the Xbox One does not support - I could be wrong, but I am unable test this out as I'm British. Likewise, unless your church stream is in HTML5, it too
will not work on the Xbox One.

Along with being a games console, the Xbox One is a media player. It supports the playback of Audio-CD, DVD's, Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray. The Xbox One will even upscale DVD movies to provide a slightly better picture quality. So yes, you can put DVD's inside
    your Xbox One console.

    Web surfing and navigation

I don't think you realize the issue.

    Console browsers aren't full browsers

They are the same as mobile browsers. And fyi xbox uses edges there are limits to what you can do in a mobile browser

Shopping or flash ain't one of them since flash is discontinued since a lot of sites haven't been updated to html 5 you are stuck

You would need html5 compliant sites which few e-commerce sites are

And hate to burst your bubble but edge is chromium based with a higher percentage of compatibility and faster render speeds then chrome

However you are dealing with a console browser which is limited since a lot of commerce sites uses flash for ads

Basically console browsers even if chrome was added would be limited which won't happen since its a Google product andgoogle have no interest in supporting a competitor since they have stradia

    Can't surf the web.

Hello, NewYork176. Thanks for reaching out! My name is Lucas, and I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Would you please take a look at this tutorial to see if you correctly configured Internet Explorer on your Xbox 360?

    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/xbox-360/ap...

Try to uninstall it and install again. If it still doesn't work and you're sure your Xbox 360 E has a stable internet connection, please try a Power Reset:

    1. If you have an external HD, please unplug it and let it unplugged for testing purposes.

    2. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

    3. Unplug all the cables (power, HDMI, etc..) and wait 5 minutes.

    4. After 5 minutes, plug all the cables in again (except for the external HD) and then turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console.

If the issue still persists, please let me know more details about it. What happens when you try to surf the web? Do you get any error message? If so, would you please share a screenshot of it?
