    I recently purchased a Surface Duo 2. I attempted to use the Xbox app to stream my Xbox Series X to the phone. However, when I select "Remote play on this device", I simply get a black screen (the green rocket ship never appears) and if I minimize the app and open it back up, it simply reverts to the home screen.

    This happens whether I use one or both screens (in any and all screen orientations). I've also tried using the Xbox (beta) version of the app with the same result.

    I am able to stream cloud games via the Gamepass app with the Surface Duo 2.

    I am also able to use the Xbox app to remote play (my Series X) on my desktop Windows 11 PC, my Surface Pro 6, and my wife's Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

    Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to resolve?

    No worries at all!

    Great advice - I will look for an older version of the xbox app and try that out. I will also submit feedback.

    My device and app are currently up-to-date.

    Hope you're doing great today mate

    It seems that this issue is happening only with this device.

    Please try this to see if you make it work:

    Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

    Click Check for Updates;

    Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

    Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

    Then try this:

    Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then restore

    Then do the same for the Xbox app:

    Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

    If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command:

    In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" (without the "")

    Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

    Thanks for the update!

    Try with an old version, hope you can make it work in that way.

    Also, I can advise you (can take a while) download the app version launched 2 weeks ago, if that doesn't work, try with one launched 1 month or 2 months ago, just to give it a try.

    1. Perform a factory reset for your device and try again remote play

    2. Wait until a new update for Xbox App appears and submit this feedback in the meantime using feedback portal:
