Surface Book3 Nvidia GPU disconnect when playing games

My Surface Book 3 always disconnect GPU when I playing games in Xbox app.

My Nvidia driver version is the latest 27.21.14.6259

    repo step:

    1. start one game in Xbox

    2. the Nvidia gpu would disconnect in device manage and the game would hang

    recovery:

Click "scan for hardware change" in device manager, the Nvidia gpu would reconnected in device manager

I believe this issue need a fix on Nvidia driver and the issue impact me a lot because I could use my Book3 play any game.

    **Moving to Gaming and Xbox**

    :)

Surface Book3 Nvidia GPU disconnect when playing games

    Hi, Jiaqi110,

I hope you are doing well today. Welcome to the Xbox Community. Thank you for reaching out to Xbox Forums. You mention that your GPU keeps disconnecting with you are playing games? Do you mean that your device is not detecting the dedicated GPU when playing PC game pass games? I am happy to help with this issue and see if we can solve your problem. have you downloaded the GeForce now app? have you configured your surface book to use your dedicated GPU in the Nvidia control panel? What OS are you currently on to provide some tips for Windows 10 or 11.

    Thank you,

    Don't worry mate.

You have to update the GPU drivers to run correctly the game:

Nvidia: Nvidia GPU drivers Radeon: Ryzen GPU drivers

If it worked, no problem !! :)

Still experiencing poor gaming performance after Windows 11 22H2 update

So I've been dealing with this driver issue for the last week or so. I've tried nearly everything to get it fixed. I have a surface book 3 with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660 Ti driver. I noticed the issue when I checked the device manager and the Nvidia driver was gone. It was only showing up when I selected show hidden devices. Then I've gone an updated the driver to the newest one and it kinda worked. Then the issue continued and someone suggested disconnecting the screen from the keyboard and poof the nvidia driver showed back up in the device manager. So I figured everything was fine, but when I would go and play games my game would crash at random times. When the game crashed I would check the device manager and the Nvidia driver was gone again. So I've gone and made sure that my surface book had the latest firmware, tried updating to the latest driver, restarted into my BIOS and checked and unchecked my gpu, etc. It seems now my last option is to do a fresh re install of Windows 11 which I absolutely do not want to do. I don;t want to lose all my documents, apps, etc. It makes me angry because this seems to be a Windows 11 and Nvidia issue, and they need to figure out how to resolve this. Does anyone have any advice other than to re install Windows?? Beyond frustrated to say the least!

PC games start lagging all of a sudden after a few minutes into the game

I will always play the game when plugged in. Also, I've set all the gaming applications as run with "High performance Nvidia processor" in the Nvidia control panel. Also, I observed that my CPU usage while gaming is just below 5% at all times whereas the GPU is operating at 80-90%.

The bcast (GameDvr) has my integrated GPU selected as it's primary dependent when it should be my Nvidia GTX 970m GPU but the Xbox App utilizes my Nvidia not the cast.
