Support told me to dispute payment with bank after refund is denied

so my son bought about 80£ worth of fifa points on my account , but my refund was denied but then i spoke to live support about it and they said i should dispute the charge with my bank, with a letter of recomendation from them as proof of being told to
do it. But doing this what situation does that leave my account in as reading people who have disputed in the past have been banned. PS we dont even own fifa he did it on a free trial

In all honesty im not bothered about being terminated by EA its just my account im worried if i proceed it will get banned but ill contact EA first

I can't go into too much detail on this subject but EA is third party offering ingame points for cash. You are buying through the microsoft.xbox service from EA. You should attempt to contact EA and explain the situation.

If you inform your bank to cash back the purchase you are breaking EA rules although you have authorisation from Microsoft.

(I think of the situation like this. The rules protect companies from theft. If you buy a $5000 bottle of whatever with next day delivery and run to your bank to request a cash back, that is clearly theft. But if you contact relevant parties to attempt a
resolution quickly with very little delay explaining your situation and reasons before the cash back this would be inline with reasonable procedures.)

Phisical items and digital items fall under different regulations. You can't get a refund if you send back an empty bottle.

To be honest I'm not sure where you stand with this, but I would contact EA or expect an EA account termination if you cash back without contacting because if you have used the coins(emptied the bottle so to say) then ask your bank for cash back, this would
look like theft and is punishable.

Act quickly. Time is essential.

Typically those that have been banned have done a charge back without contacting Microsoft for a possible refund first. That's what makes it look suspicious. As you've attempted a refund with Microsoft, your account should be fine.

Since you did contact Microsoft first you should not get banned. I would get a copy of the letter to keep for your records in case they do try any action. I am not sure if EA will ban you or not. I am not as familiar with their guidelines and how they
will react.
