Support and Warranty Limitations

The power receiver on Xbox One console died. At first I thought it was the power supply, but after doing all the necessary tests, the fact that the power supply light went out only when I plugged it into my Xbox pointed at the Xbox. So I contacted support.
Went through some more troubleshooting and was told that it was still under warranty and that I was eligible for an Advanced Exchange, but would need to provide a credit card to hold around $500. I didn't have $500 to hold on a credit card at the time and
was told that when I do, to contact support and they'd finish processing the request.

25 days later I contact support to complete the process. Turns out my warranty expired 3 days after I reported the issue. No longer eligible for an Advanced Exchange. The 'tool' the support agents use can't bypass that. It's not like I used my Xbox during
this period; no power = no usage. It's not like the Xbox broke after my warranty expired. It's not like support wasn't aware of the issue when it was under warranty. The good news is there's a 30 day grace period and I can get a Standard Exchange done instead.

It isn't the extra time required for me to get a working Xbox One again that really bugs me. It's the fact that not only do I need to have $500 for a "warranty" to claimed. It's the fact that they knew it was broken while under warranty but when I have the
money they can't do anything about it because of the 'tool' they use. It's the fact that first agent I spoke to, never mentioned my warranty would expire in 3 days.

I needed to vent, and I think other Xbox One owners should be aware of these limitations.

Xbox One advanced replacement (Optical Drive Error) -> US Import in Europe(Germany)

Hi,

i had a similar problem with a DLSR Camera i buyed in from the UK with the delivering country Germany.

I had the full 1 year warranty for this product, but bound to the warranty limitations and the support in the country i have buyed it.

This means, i had to send it to the support in UK although a service exists in Germany.

You have ordered your X1 in the USA so the warraty limitations and terms & conditions from the USA are valid for you.

"Warranty Period" for Xbox One means 1 year from the date You purchased it; and for Accessories, means 90 days from the date You purchased it.
