Sunset Overdrive, YOUR review of this game :)

From what I can tell most people who said they've enjoyed the game have given reasons why. It could be one reason or many reasons. I've seen people mention anything from the characters to story to how fun the game is, etc. I don't think there's a complicated
or deeper reason, it's just flat out fun (for most of us).

For I just love everything as a whole. I love being apart of this fun world that turns a post apocalypse type of game on its head. The characters are pretty great, it has humor, charm and a vibe that can just put a smile on my face. (The respawn animations
    are really a nice touch).

I can't forget about the weapons and all the traversal stuff either. When I first played the game I was worried I might not catch on but once I started doing challenges and actually practicing through the city I got better! Trying all the different weapons
is a blast too and a big reason I don't mind running out of ammo.

Other things I like about the game are missions/side missions, challenges, crazy customization and the robot dog! I haven't even tried Chaos Squad yet (waiting on a few buddies first).

I'll admit it's not as bad as Track and Field and it's not testing my reflexes like being accurate in a shooter would.

My issue with the game is that it's designed to require repetitive button pressing just for the sake of pushing buttons. Look at the street level rails, they open up and have gaps rather than simply following the length of the street. It's done on purpose
to keep you feeling involved in the action.

The game is designed that way and does it well but if you don't like that genre of games (skate/snow), you won't like this game.

My review of the game (7/10) isn't based on that style of gameplay being a negative. The faults I find in the game is a short SP campaign, bad cameras on platform sections and tacked on multiplayer. The dislike of the button mashing is simply a personal
    preference.

And if you're hitting as many buttons in BF as SO, you need to switch to decaf ;p

Its a great game I highly recommend it, its one of my favorites of this generation so far. I dont have time to do a real review, but I will say it feels a bit like Saints Row meets Second Son with a dash of Deadrising. If that mashup sounds like something
you would like, then you will love this game.

No disrespect to yozoo but his review is why I've been going on and on about the button mashing.

You can't play SO like you play Saint's Row, Infamous or Deadrising. I bought the game assuming that I could and you can't, if you aren't moving you're dead. This is not a run and gun game, this is a hop, skip, jump , slide and gun game.

Can we all at least agree on that?

Sunset Overdrive, YOUR review of this game :)

I can see how SO may remind some of Dead Rising and Saints Row but it's not for the gameplay. From the get go the dev's said they want you to stay on the move because you'll get slaughtered if you stay on the ground too long. Not sure how anyone missed that.
For me, that was a huge reason I wanted this game lol.

I would totally still be playing this game now if you could " run & gun " it Sunset Overdrive, YOUR review of this game :) :)

However, the rules of Sunset Overdrive are very simple and it goes something like this...

    " Grind or Die! "

This game is still vexxing me, so I can't play it yet...

  11. Hello "Defy Lightning" Sunset Overdrive, YOUR review of this game :) :)

I " LOVE " Sunset Overdrive, but I don't feel like ripping my Xbox One from my TV and throwing it out of the window so I will do what I did when I was playing Ninja Gaiden for the Original Xbox.

    ..........

    (1) Rage & frustration builds up

    (2) Stop playing game

    (3) Rage & frustration gone

    (4) Play game again

    (5) Rinse and repeat LOL Sunset Overdrive, YOUR review of this game :) :)

Yes the gaps are there to make you jump and build your style meter. I've just found that I get up high and can move around with minimal button presses. Once I'm grinding I'm using the left stick to move in different direction and firing. Jumping from one
thing to another isn't as frequent for me as it is for you it seems. Although I like Ryse that I will admit is a button masher.

if you want, maybe i can help you get better. Its not a hard game by any means. it is challenging, but not unfairly so. maybe try starting by doing some of the basic traversal challenges?

i found the traversal challenges helped a lot, before that i was just grinding back and forth on a power line or bouncing on the same bush to kill enemies.
