Sunset Overdrive (Microsoft Store/Xbox Game Pass version) PC fails to create save/menu loop bug

Trying to play Sunset Overdrive via Xbox Game Pass for PC has resulted in not being able to actually start the game. The menu loads and all, but regardless of what I do, as soon as I click "play", it briefly shows a loading screen (for no more than a second)
and then reloads the main menu with no changes made. I have tried every suggestion from other threads talking about similar issues and this is mainly here to ask: is it actually included in my subscription or is it only available to download for some reason
but then doesn't actually work?

Now, I've done some digging of my own since support has been so limited for this game; it appears that what it's actually doing is failing to create a save file, but it fails without throwing any sort of error message. I had to dig around for the save file
location and monitor it when I tried to start the game, along with finding what little log data this version lets you even know about the existence of. As it turns out, the game's actual resource files seem to be fine, but for some reason it isn't creating
a save whenever I try to.

Restarting, reinstalling, checking to make sure services are running, resetting, updating all apps and updating Windows 10 itself to the latest build, reinstalling the Xbox app, logging out and back in again...none of those worked and everyone else with
this issue seems to have had the same experience. Meanwhile, support hasn't ever given us any other solutions. This issue really needs to be patched if Sunset Overdrive is supposed to be part of the library for us XGP PC subscribers, and this is the only place
to go to try and get that message to the developers of the PC port. I'd like to keep my subscription because the number of games makes it a good value, but Microsoft, we need better support and there are still issues you need to work out.

My theory is that it has something to do with cloud storage. Other games have had similar issues related to it, and from everything I've found, the Steam version has been working perfectly fine. It's also working fine for people who *own* the game via MS
Store, and I think this has something to do with the way Xbox cloud storage is allocated (considering that Windows 10 games use the same cloud system that games running on an Xbox One use, if my information is correct). Perhaps a general improvement to Xbox
Cloud sync on Windows 10 would fix several games' save issues at once. If anyone has any other ideas, I'd be glad to hear them because this game was one of the reasons I subscribed in the first place. Please either note this as a potential issue or point me
in the right direction if there's a fix for this.
