    Sunset Overdrive "Installation Stopped" Error 0x80070079


    I bought Sunset Overdrive during games with gold digitally but am unable to install it. Almost immediately after I click install it says installation stopped due to error 0x80070079. Sometimes it shows error 0x87e00005 as well. I've contacted xbox
    support and tried a variety of fixes, power cycling, restoring, going offline, canceling and reinstalling, some networking things, nothing seems to have fixed it. I then contacted Insomniac games and their support said they have no fix. EVERY OTHER GAME DOWNLOAD
    WORKS FOR ME MY NETWORK IS COMPLETELY FINE. How do I fix this issue?

    I am also having this issue while trying to install both the Sunset Overdrive update and Child of Light for Games with Gold. They continually start downloading and then suddenly stop and it says Installation stopped. I can restart them, but it only downloads
    for a couple of minutes before stopping again.

    Sorry to hear about the Season Pass issue. Let's make sure it's not in the 'Ready to install' queue. Navigate to the Sunset Overdrive tile and press the menu button on your controller to get to 'Manage game'. When you're in the Manage Sunset Overdrive screen,
    the 'Ready to install' group should have all of your digital items listed, including the Sunset Overdrive Season Pass.

    Check there and let us know if you're able to download it! :D

    The game has never worked on xbox series S. If u google or search in reddit u will see many whom have encountered problem. The game crashes series s after 5 seconds EVERYTIME. cant even start creating a character. I wrote microsoft last year... Told me to write insomniac. Wrote insomniac.... Told me to write microsoft. My first xbox ever and im sorely disappointed.

    I'm Samy an independent advisor. Welcome to the Xbox community. How are you?

    Cancel/remove the game from your download queue, clear your console's MAC, restart your internet devices and try again. If you are using an external hard drive try installing the game without using the external hard drive connected to the console or the console's internal memory.

    Follow this path to clean your console's MAC.

    Settings>general>network settings>advanced settings>alternative MAC address>clear console will prompt to restart.

    Network Settings> Advanced Settings> MAC Address and Clear.

    If the problem persists reset the console to factory defaults, you won't lose anything but you will need to log in with your account again. Email and password are required.

    Follow this path and select reset keeping games and app.

    In 5 to 10 minutes you will finish reconfiguring your console

    To reset the console>

    Settings> System> Console Info> Reset Console

    ***Do not reset your console without having your account email and password.***
