    Summer Update Powering On/Off Sound with Controller


    I'm another Xbox One Forza Edition owner that is now blessed with hearing the awful startup noise when powering on and off the Xbox with the controller. The only time I would hear this noise before was when I pressed the power button on the console manually.
    How do we tell Microsoft that this is unacceptable and needs to revert back to the way it was a week ago. PLEASE LET US FIX. GIVE US, US FREE!!!

    Can't turn XBox One on with my controller anymore.

    Well Update/OS version 1408 (August 18th) update has appeared to have cleared up my controller power on/off issues with Instant-On enabled. In other words, the controller is now powering on & off with console. Now I will be monitoring the controller disconnect
    issues while in-game to see if all works as should. Thanks guys! Be blessed.

    Sadly there isn't a way to remove this feature at the moment but you can request it Here' for a setting to have it removed and your console specifically.

    Xbox One X Latest Update Causing Sound Distortion/Compression Problems

    I did both of the aforementioned "things to try". Both do not work. I did not receive and errors when I updated and it updated silently.

    The sound distortion happens when I turn the Xbox off, and then turn it back on. To remedy, I do a hard reset and the sound is fine. After the Xbox is turned off again, and back on, the sound distortion happens again.

    Cycle for Example:

    Power On -> Sound is Fine -> Power Off -> Power On -> Sound Distortion -> Hard Reset -> Power On -> Sound is Fine -> Power Off -> Power On -> Sound Distortion -> Hard Reset -> Power On -> Sound is Fine -> Power Off -> Power On -> Sound Distortion and so
    on and so on...

    Just to add to what Geth has said if you are still not able to get the controller to sync can you please try below?

    It sounds like the update has not fully completed can you try fully powering down the console by pressing and holding the power button on the front of the console for 5-10 seconds. Once the console has powered off remove the batteries and connect the controller
    to the console using a USB cable then power the console back on using the power button on the console itself After the dashboard has loaded please wait for 10-15 before you try to use the console of controller and if the controller update has not completed
    it will hopefully do so during this time.
