summer update background music is a joke

I am not happy about this summer update that introduces background music I thought that it would allow us to play our own music off a usb like the xbox 360 did. Seriously MICROSOFT PLEASE ALLOW US THE ABILITY TO LISTEN TO OUR OWN MUSIC VIA TJE MEDIA PLAYER
APP INSTEAD OF INSTALLING NEW APPS.

Background Music Issues

There's an update to Pandora coming soon that will activate background music. It's not ready quite yet.

Play your own music using the new background music feature

Xbox's background music update is the biggest joke. Such garbage. The native media player doesn't even support background music. The simple background music player app is garbage too. There is no repeat or Shuffle track option. That completely ruins the
cutscenes and gameplay experience. I have to keep opening the app back up to repeat a track I like during a cutscene. The volume changer increments are way too drastic. If I ever need to lower or higher the volume it's either way too loud or way too low. There
aren't enough increments in the volume changer bar. I'm always having to adjust the volume myself while playing a game or specifically during a cutscene. The groove music app with the OneDrive music storage option would be decent if it actually let us play
music in the background already. We're still waiting for them to update the *** thing but it's taking them so long. This is one of the worst updates I have ever scene. PS4 has a far superior background music system implemented. Xbox you need to pick it up.

If you give it time, you'll be able to play off connections to your computers and most likely USBs.

 

They have confirmed in the update feature video here: that more apps in the future will support background music and that playing off of a usb drive, a shared network library, or dlna media server will be supported soon as well.

 

Its only working for some in US none of the apps at least here in UK cannot work yet even those on the preview haven't got it to work.

 

It does work in UK but only on a app called cast (as far is know)

 

Cast does work it a podcast app most are waiting for groove hoping it gets updated soon.

 

I could not agree more with this. It's a slap in the face to all of the people who have been waiting such a long time for such simple functionality. I have waited patiently for background music to come out because I believe in Microsoft, but I am just about
done with this nonsense. For someone like me, being able to listen to my own music while I play makes a huge difference in how much I enjoy gaming. Considering Microsoft sold the XB1 as a comprehensive media device (not just a gaming console) this is utter
nonsense. It's bad enough that I will have to abandon my Spotify, but to make it so on day 1 that all you can listen to are podcasts?????? We can't even use a USB? My god!!! Who the hell is in charge of this project?

Personally, if this isn't fixed in the next couple of weeks, I'm selling all of my Xbox's and replacing them with PS4s (they have had background music since launch btw). Get it together MS.

 

Anybody else having problems getting Pandora to work in the background? It's a shame that on day one something's broken.

 

Cant run Pandora in the background as advertised. I dont even get the Music Note icon on the sidebar. I can snap and unsnap but nothing like its advertised. Also, no volume control.

 

trust me when i say this look when the xbox 360 came out it featured background music no 3rd party app with ads but all of a sudden Xbox One comes no background music at launch but summer 2016 update comes but now its got to be a 3rd party app not the Xbox's
own media player. its strange that the first app is not one of Microsofts and yet its strange that they allowed this instead of updating one of there own.

 

Groove now works once you update it.

 

The updated version I had to search apps two groove apps turned up the new one and the old one installed both, To check which version you have go to games and apps choose apps hover over the groove tile.

Press both bumpers and the old back button that's the small left hand button with the small squares.

The version you need is 3.6.23814.22.

 

according to mine its saying version 2.6.812.0
