  2. Xbox One froze whilst updating today

The summer update is stuck at 66% for the last hour. If I turn Xbox off and back on will it brick it?

  3. Xbox One froze whilst updating today

same here the summer update went to 66% with online update and stopped. Shut the system down and was left with the green screen. Did the steps for offline update and again it got stuck on 66%. I've had all xbox systems and have been a loyal xbox user,
but this Xbox one is crap and Microsoft company is even more crap. PS4 here I come.

  5. the system update solutions do not work unfortunately - This seems to be a growing problem within the xbox community and support teams are telling everyone, including myself, to hard reset their console and from what ive seen in responses and first-hand
experience, has not resolved anything (Although they are correct that it shouldnt damage or corrupt data mid-update). It then gets stuck at the green startup screen. From there, you have the option to do the offline update using a USB flash drive formatted
to NTFS from FAT-32(ms-dos) which ALSO gets stuck at 66%.

It seems that the best fix/solution is to hard reset, unplug for 30 secs, plug back in and hold the [Eject] button and [controller sync] button while powering up. This will bring you to the same menu as the offline update, and from what ive seen, people
are able to reset to factory settings while still keeping their apps and games + save data! i have yet to do this on my console for fear of losing data and saved games, but plan to call today to be properly guided through the factory reset whilst holding on
to all internal storage data. Apparently all external data is completely safe from this option.

If anyone has any better fixes/solutions, PLEASE let me know before i factory reset with customer care, cause ive spent the last 2 days with my console going back and forth from green screen to 66% update (the applying phase) and waited over 10 hours to
see if it would move. nothing =( . I would love to continue my video gaming asap lol.

Had this same problem only way to fix it was to factory reset then select keep games and apps. I was on phone with tech support first one told me I had to pay to return the xbox and have it fixed the second person had me download the restore file but failed
again at 66%. I ended up going to finding the answer here ... Thanks.

Same issue, the new update originally went through fine, suddenly today it was Green Screen of Death on me. So I follower the offline update and it is hanging at 66% right now and I figure I will get the "Something Went Wrong XXXXXXX" crap soon. Looks like
factory reset then attempt it again. All games on a 2TB external so just have to redo all the family email and passwords, Netflix, Origin, UPlay and other account login all over again. Not happy but what ever works.

Okay Reset complete. Looks like it is working okay so far. Odd thing was the reset didn't require the update that just went in. So not sure if it will hold up, only time will tell on that. But if you are getting stuck with this stuff. May be worth it. Another
reason an external drive may be a good idea. I did the complete reset since all my games are on the external drive. Good Luck folks!

  10. For me, I just had to wait for a few minutes and it continued downloading the update

I downloaded the update offline using the OSU1 file from this site: support.xbox.com/.../system-updates-solution

You just need to follow the steps and you will have your xbox in a 'ready-to-play' condition in no time

Your console is not bricked you are fine.

No need for the USB recovery either - since the 1603 build you can self recover via this cool method

    Try this:

    1. Hold down the power button on the front of your Xbox One console until it fully powers down, unplug the power cord, and wait 30 seconds. Please note the console must be fully powered down; the next steps will not work if the console is powered on from connected
      standby.
    2. Plug the power cord back in.
    3. PRESS the POWER Button then Hold down the Bind button (located on the side of the console next to the USB port) and the Eject button (located on the front of the console next to the optical disc slot), continue holding down Bind and Eject until you hear
      a second “power up” chime.
    4. Then SELECT Reset this Xbox - This Troubleshooter takes the User to a page that allows them to select full reset or reset but keep content (this allows you to keep your installed games and settings!)
Let us know if this works!
