    Suffix in name


    I searched up the user "shArk" and saw that no one had it. I changed it to that coming from my old user "AAVV2017" that didn't have a suffix. When I changed it, I see that it has a suffix when nobody has the name. Why do I have it? If I have to keep that suffix, can I change it back to my old user? I'd rather keep my old user than have a suffix Suffix in name :(

    If the suffix was added, it's because the tag is in use somewhere on Microsoft's servers. Keep in mind the system doesn't see things like capitalization or spaces as making a gamertag unique.

    If you want to change your gamertag back, you'd have to do another gamertag change.

    Hello Jestring, it shows the suffix because the name without the suffix is not available, in case you want a name without suffix #123456, you will have to choose another name that has not yet been used or write the name you want in a different way.

    They had to shorten the gamer tags when they added on the suffix. By adding the suffix, it enabled gamers to have the same gamer tag as another gamer. The suffix is just a way of distinguishing the different gamers with the same name.

    If you do not want a suffix you just have to chose a name that has not been chosen before. The idea of suffixes is help people use a name they like instead of having xx or 00 at the beginning of the name just because it was already taken

    Even if the name is taken it would give you some crazy number with the new system but with the characters being so short it may not allow it at all so know one might not have it but it just might not be allowed. The
    suffix is auto-assigned by Xbox to make sure everyone is unique. We don’t allow players to select their own suffix at this time. If multiple people have the same gamertag, the suffix distinguishes
    them from one another. You can always check your friends' suffix by viewing their profile. I am assuming possibly that there are no more suffixes allowed or something is wrong with that name. Personally I dont want a name everyone uses. Just play with the
    name ab it and see whats available or not
