    Suddenly unable to play Multiplayer


    On both Xbox and Windows 10, I am very suddenly unable to play any Multiplayer Games.

    This happened very recently when I decided to purchase Minecraft for Windows. Upon downloading the game, I found myself unable to connect to friends' worlds nor them to my own. Frustrated that I had wasted money to have a portable Minecraft, I waited until I was able to play on Xbox. As it turns out, when I was able to play on multiplayer without a problem before, I am no longer able to do anything. Minecraft blatantly gives a warning box that it is due to my Microsoft account settings (which have not changed ever, and all of which allow me to communicate and play multiplayer), but other online games give me cryptic errors and 'Try Again' messages.

    This is fairly frustrating, as just a month or so ago I had no issues whatsoever.

    I am subscribed to Xbox's Live subscriptions, which should enable me to play online for most games and as I said before, all of my settings are set to allow me to play online.

    I am the only user of both my account and console, so I am unsure what to do from here.

    Thank you for responding so quickly!

    I'm happy to report that deleting my Microsoft account from the Xbox and fully resetting the Xbox regained my ability to play online. Strange- but I'll take it.

    I will now attempt to join a server on Windows 10 and see if, for some reason, that managed to fix my week-long problem.

    Is your account a child account or an adult account? Have you been added to a Family group recently? Would you see if you are on a family group here: https://family.microsoft.com/ ?

    You are not being able to play multiplayer on both Xbox and Windows?

    Would you please share a screenshot or picture of the error message that you receive? Just in case this message shows an error code that can help we figure out what is the issue here.

    This does appear to have fixed my account.

    For reference, though, the error on Minecraft read: You cannot play on Realms because of how your Microsoft Account is set up. Please ensure your online safety settings allow Multiplayer and Clubs and you have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.

    I had both of these and still, the problem persisted until I deleted the account and reset the Xbox. I'm not sure how doing that also fixed the Windows 10 version, but they both seem to be working.

    Other online games also appear to be working just fine as well.

    Yes, it's pretty easy to find online multiplayer games. I'm available to play too and when a few of my friends see me playing it, suddenly they are playing it. It's pretty funny. :p
