Suddenly unable to detect any wireless networks

Hi, I know that the issue may well be the internal network adaptor, but before I request a repair I just wanted to see if there's anything else I can try. Bought a secondhand but mint condition console for my 8 year old and have had it setup, operational
and connected to Xbox live via wireless with no issues at all for 7 days, including last night. Turned it on this evening and it wasn't connected so tried to set the wireless network up and it didn't detect any networks - normally it picks up not only ours
but the neighbours too. Tried manually putting in the SSID and followed the support suggestions offered when it couldn't pick it up that way either, then headed over here. I've been through all the support posts and followed all the applicable steps (inc.
checking my router) on the off-chance that the hardware itself wasn't the issue, but nothing has worked. Is there anything else at all I can try? Or anyway for me to confirm if it's the adaptor that's gone? E's autistic and absolutely doing her nut because
I can't get her connected to play PvZ - offline playing just isn't going to cut it! As an aside, anyone have any ideas what this sort of repair might cost if it is hardware related? Cheers, Charlie

    :)

  2. Slim Unable to Detect Wireless Network

What you have encountered here it’s a hardware error of the Xbox360 Slim (sometimes it requires an wireless adapter although the Slim model has an internal wireless adapter installed) and in this case you should seek assistance to repair your console.

Yet before doing that it has been reported that if you disconnect all power cables and the leave the Xbox powered down for a while and disconnected than hook up everything as before this error has been overcome.

I would advise you to try this solution before filing for a repair.

  3. Slim Unable to Detect Wireless Network

My Xbox 360 S is unable to connect to LIVE wirelessly, and when I try to test my LIVE connection it doesn't give me any options for wireless networks. I AM able to connect to LIVE once I connect the Xbox to the router with an ethernet cable.

    City/State: Winter Park, FL

    Modem: **** CM820A

    Router: NetGear N300 WNR2000v3

    Adapter: Internal Slim Adapter

    I've tried: Turning Router On/Off

UPnP: Unknown, but I think Yes considering I can connect to the printer with my laptop.

    ISP: Summit Broadband

it may well be your wireless router ....try and make a hot spot with your phone...a factory reset the router has been know to work , as has a factory reset of the console....try a wired connection also...whitch is FAR more stable and troublefree anyway...

    Hello,

Sorry your going through this issue, didn't see anything about a power cycle, so figured I'd throw my two cents in and say this is what I would do before requesting repair.

    1) Power cycle the console, power the console down, unplug for ten seconds, plug it in and then power it on

2)Make sure that the console is separated from other networked devices, and that it is able to receive a clear signal from the router

    3) Check which channel your router is on, as some routers are able to be on a channel that is outside the spectrum that an Xbox can receive ( i.e. my DD-WRT build has channels my Xbox can't see), you can always use channel 6 to be sure that it can be seen

    4) Try a hard wired connection to the router, once you have established wired works, and you have checked the channel of the router to make sure it can be seen by the Xbox, then I would contact Xbox Support to see what they advise

If repairs are needed Xbox support will be able to assist you and let you know when it's time to start considering repairs.

Hi guys, thanks for your replies.

Fiddled with bandwith and completed *another* console cycle with no results. However, used a wired connection to the router via ethernet and XBL is working with no trouble at all. Glad I didn't request a repair but now I'm in a situation where I can't connect
my sky+hd box to the internet because I' using the Ethernet port on my router for the XBL. I now have no ability to record or even download on sky+HD because the one Ethernet port is in use with XBL. Help???.

You could get a switch to use on your network which would give you more ports for plugging in other devices.

Sorry to hear that you are still having issues, is there anyway you can see if your xbox is able to pick up any wireless signal, i.e. hotspot on a cellphone, neighbors router. Not that you could connect to them but are you able to see them? It sounds to
me if you only have one ethernet port that you are connecting straight to the modem, if this is true and the modem has a wireless card, sometimes they use different channels than the ones that xbox can see. Be interesting to see if you're on n/b/ac or what
    your wireless type is.
