Suddenly No Multiplayer on Xbox One anymore

Hello,

I normally enjoy Xbox Live. But for about a week now, I am not able to play online games anymore. That's especially frustrating because I recently bought Fallout 76 and Overwatch.

If I'm trying to connect to the Overwatch servers I get messages that either Xbox Live authentication failed or connection was refused (with the error codes lc-201 and lc-202). If I am actually able to get into a match, I get stuck on the character selection
screen and kicked out when the game starts (with one of the error messages from above).

In Fallout 76, I am not able to synchronize my data (even if the data in online games should be stored online...). If I manage to get past the synchronization screen, the game gives me a connection error and I get kicked off Xbox Live (the next login to
Xbox Live actually needs a restart of the console).

I made the NAT and Multiplayer tests in the network settings. At first, the NAT showed "Moderate" and UPnP wasn't available. I made an online research and I could resolve the NAT-Issues. Now, NAT ist "Open", UPnP is active and the Multiplayer Connection
test works.

But my games still don't work. I also tried to set all the necessary ports for port forwarding in my Wi-Fi Router. But that also didn't solve my problem.

Now, I am getting a little desperate because I start thinking that I personally can't solve the problem anymore, so I am asking you, if you have additional ideas. I'm not sure if I can get official help from Microsoft here, but that would also be nice.

:)

3. Can't connect to any game servers.

I suddenly can't connect to game servers anymore, i only own 2 multiplayer games, Killer Instinct and Battlefront, I can play multiplayer on KI but it won't register my leaderboard score anymore, I can't login to the EA servers anymore on Battlefront either,
also, the Xbox homescreen is kinda laggy and pictures of news or new info wont load properly, indicating that it's not the game servers, rather than my network or hardware/system, any ideas on whats happening or how to solve it?

Hello Matthias,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. First off, I would like to say that UPNP should not be used in tandem with port forwarding. They just don't mesh well.

Also, you want to make sure your speeds are meeting requirements.

1. Press the Menu button on the Xbox One controller.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Network.
4. Select Detailed Network Statistics.
5. The results should appear in a few moments.

Compare your speed test results to the following speeds, which we recommend as minimum requirements for the best connection experience:

Online gaming SD video streaming HD video streaming

Download speed 3 megabits per second 1 megabit per second 3.5 megabits per second

Upload speed 0.5 megabits per second N/A N/A

Ping Less than 150 milliseconds Less than 150 milliseconds Less than 150 milliseconds

Hope this helps!

The detailed network statistics showed me the following results:

Download: 12.06 MBit/s

Upload: 0.86 MBit/s

Latency: 47ms

But it is a bit fluctuating because my PC is also connected. My Wi-Fi Router shows slightly higher speeds.

I additionally deactivated port forwarding for my Xbox One (there are currently no other devices with that) and made sure that it can actually use UPNP.

Under "opened Ports" I can see:

UDP 3074

But games are still not working...

Hiya!

Paul from the Xbox Forums Team here to assist, under your services and subscriptions it does show your Xbox Live gold subscription is active correct? As well one thing you could also try is to
power cycle the console
. Please let us know how it goes.

Happy Gaming!

Hi,

Power cycling (my Xbox and my network devices) was actually the first thing I've tried. And I repeated that after every change of settings.

My Xbox Live Gold subscription is active (until January).

Other services like the Store, Edge, YouTube do work on my console. Only the games don't work. I also have problems with offline games, because my console can't synchronize the save data with the cloud storage.

Interesting fact: If I am using YouTube, my Router keeps showing only the UDP connection on Port 3074.

Hey Matthias thanks for keeping in touch!

We suggest, if it hasn't already been done to clear out the caches on the console: First things first the game cache:

Settings

System

Storage

Clear local saved games

IF THE CONSOLE IS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET no progress or purchase data will be lost, what we accomplish by doing these steps would be to resync the profile to the cloud getting rid of any corruption
as a byproduct.

To clear out the Network Card Cache (alternate MAC address)

Settings

Network

Network Settings

Advanced Settings

Alternate MAC Address

Clear and Restart

Give these steps a shot and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the idea. I will try that (maybe as recently as tomorrow, because it's almost bed time here in Germany).

I still have some questions for these steps:

How can I make sure that every local savegame is synchronized with the cloud?

Can I re-download my savegames if I am currently not able to synchronize them?

I appreciate your (fast) help.

10. Hi there MatthiasDE!

Thank you for bringing this inquiry to the forums attention. I understand that
you have some questions about saved game data.

• Have you had any issues with your internet at all or any error messages or codes regarding the syncing of your game data from the cloud?

Note:

You must have a regular connection to Xbox Live to keep your data in sync. Playing offline may cause your cloud data to become out of sync. Your data updates each time you connect to Xbox Live.

I recommend trying the following articles:

Try this out and let us know the results.

Hi, I have some additional information.

My internet connection works fine for other devices and my provider didn't seem to have problems.

And my Xbox is usually connected to the internet and Xbox Live all the time.

What I actually tried yesterday was to clear the Network Card Cache. (I wanted to wait for the game cache until today.)

At first it didn't work. But when I tried the usual games (Overwatch and Fallout 76) when I came home today, they were working again. So that could have resolved the problem. I also exchanged my half-defective multiple outlet power strip with another one.
(Even if I don't know if that was a problem...) Maybe it was just the Microsoft Magic that ended my problems as unforeseen as they started.

The steps that possibly solved my problems:

- Specifically allow my Xbox One to open ports via UPNP in my Wi-Fi Router settings. (Even if I didn't have to do that before...)

- Clear the Xbox One network card cache.

- Power cycle the Xbox One AND the Wi-Fi Router after these steps.

I could only test it for a few minutes, but I don't have the massive problems from the last days anymore.

Thanks for your help, I will definitely return to this forum if I encounter any other "unsolvable" problems.

Hello Matthias,

Do you have a icom transceiver router or modem? Them error codes you get are not any Xbox or game codes they sound like they are internet codes. I would get with you internet service provider on this matter.

Thanks,

Brad

Hi,

I don't get these codes anymore, because the problem seems to have been solved magically (I'll try again later, and check if the problem occurs again)

The error codes you mentioned are Overwatch-specific and are only shown in that game. According to Blizzard, they can mean anything and are just shown to indicate some network-related error.

My router is a Fritzbox from AVM

Hey Matthias thanks for keeping in touch!

So just so we are on the same page, Port Forwarding has been done? If so we noticed that the upload speeds are pretty low, which can cause these errors too. What we can try is a reset of
the problem might be on the actual OS of the console so we would suggest a

Soft Factory Reset
(while keeping games and apps) IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

• There is a stable network connection.
• The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)
Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup, this has the added benefit of clearing all the caches and any leftover data on the console which can slow down its performance and clearing any
issues on the Microsoft accounts as well. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

Hi,

my network connection actually is pretty stable. And my slow upload speed didn't cause any multiplayer troubles before. I don't use port forwarding anymore.

As for now (if you read my previous posts), my problems have just disappeared. I don't know why, but it happened.

I didn't choose any answer because I actually don't know what solved the problem. It might sound funny, but could you please stop helping me?

I mean the thread can be closed now Suddenly No Multiplayer on Xbox One anymore ;)
