    Sudden overheating


    I was given an old 360 that worked fine for a few months. Today the disk drive decided it would stop working.. Eventually was able to take it apart and clean it. Put it back together and the disk drive worked! I finally started my game and the console shut
    off due to overheating after 5ish minutes and it was actually pretty hot. It's never overheated before.

    Any advice would be Much appreciated.

    I've been using the 360 fine and now all of a sudden it's freezing, well the screen just goes Black and nothing happens and I have to manually *** it off, happens from 5-20 mins of gameplay, the sound continues to work tho so it's not a cable issue...

    Wondered if it was overheating?

    Xbox 360 Slim Power Supply overheating problems.

    My power supply keeps overheating. I let it cool down for the half hour xbox recommends. But it still over heats with in a few hours. My power supply is out in the open, and it hasn't changed positions. It was fine for the first year of it's life, but now
    all of a sudden it's over heating. Any help?

    Sudden shut off's are usually related to the unit overheating or thinking it is overheating.

    Sudden shutdown of the console and/or prolonged fan noise indicates an overheating issue.

    Check the ventilation holes on the sides of the console for dust accumulation and clean each one. I vacuum clean mine when the console is disconnected from power.

    Sudden shutdown indicates overheating.

    The sudden shutdown is a safety feature designed to limit damage to the console.

    Excessive fan noise is an indication of overheating.

    When the console restarts, do you get a notification regarding overheating?

    Symptoms of sudden shutdown and or a prolonged fan noise indicates overheating and ventilation issues

    Turn off and unplug the console power cable and vacuum (hoover) clean the ventilation holes on the sides of the console. Get up close with the hose and clean each vent.

    You will notice a difference on a black console, a white console may not show the same result as dust is usually greyish.
