Sudden Controller Disconnect - will not reconnect....

Hope someone can help here.

Was happily playing Destiny last night in a party, (day one controller with standard headset) and then the voice dropped and my controller powered down. Fair enough I thought, batteries need replacing. replaced the batteries, and the controller would not
sync back up. Just sat there flashing.

I tried to re-sync my controller as per the help sheet...

Which had no effect.

So I thought, controller software issue. I disconnected the batteries, plugged in via USB and the controller worked immediately.

Started to update the controller firmware through the settings menu. got to 99% three times and then can up with an error saying unable to update firmware.

Turned the console off. Pulled the power cable out of the back. turned off all wireless devices including my router (which incidentally has worked perfectly since launch day... I use an ethernet connection).

Disconnected the kinect. tried to sync again, no dice.

So we are on the horns of an issue here ladies and gents. The controller was working perfectly, and has been since launch day, but now will not update and will not work wirelessly.

I can sit 2 feet away from a 42" Plasma TV, but I don't think my eyes will like me if I do that for too long.

I hope that this means the controller has not died. It's been less than a year, and it's a day one edition which I want to keep working as long as I can.

Any help would be most appreciated.

XB One controller Micro USB connection design

Happened to me too was playing on a PC and then all of a sudden the controller just couldn't connect right I tried to disconnect and reconnect the cord and it was jammed in, I put it back in and now it will only connect if the controller is standing perfectly
straight up witch is annoying.

 

Xbox one controller disconnects when I lose connection to the internet

I know why my internet keeps disconnecting. What im saying is my controller disconnects when i lose connection. It will reconnect but on rare occasions it will not turn back on. Dont worry about the wifi part. All I need to know is if the controllers are
supposed to drop conneection and then reconnect when the xbox all of a sudden loses internet connection. I dont lose control of the wifi.

 

Sounds like you've got a faulty controller.

Take it back to the place that sold it to you and get it exchanged for one that works.

 

I had this exact same problem with my day one edition back in February - tried absolutely everything possible whilst on the phone to various MS support agents, different controllers, moving xbox into another room in case of interference, etc, even a complete
factory reset to no avail..

Support came to the conclusion it was a faulty AR receiver in the console itself, and I had to send it in (Got a refund and bought a new console which has been fine)

This is of course a worst case scenario and it could just be the controller itself, but give support a call and see what they suggest
