Sudden and Mysterious Lag

Hello all! I have been using my XB1 since launch with limited issues. It is connected wirelessly to my home Comcast network along with my myriad of other devices, including my other consoles and my iPad. My condo is set up such that the space between
my router and my systems is less than ideal, but I bought a signal extender that seems to fix my problem. Historically I've had decent connection speeds to my XB1 such that I can play online, stream Netflix and download updates with minimal difficulties.

That is, until a few days ago. I bought a few new games that required updates and found that the updates were coming at a snail's pace and were frequently stopping. For example, The Witcher 3 has been updating for three days now and is still at 16%. Worse,
suddenly my Netflix is streaming with poor quality and refreshes ever few minutes such that watching an hour long show takes about two or three hours. I've troubleshooted the issue from a number of angles and found no solution. Running the speed test on
my network from my iPad yields download speeds of upwards of 3 Mbps consistently, and usually upwards of 5 and approaching 10, but when I run detailed network stats on my XB1, I get less than 1 Mbps. The discrepancy confuses me. I don't know what could have
suddenly changed to deteriorate my XB1 network speed so significantly within the past few days.

FIFA 14 and players using lag switches

I know this is an oldish topic but the same thing happened to me. Opponent goes a goal up and then all of a sudden the match lags. he was definitely using a lag switch

 

Why is bf3 lagging?

Im trying to find out why bf3 is lagging for me all of a sudden. I never had this problem. My Internet is running fine and my ports on the wireless router are open. It can't be the router because The game still lagged for me when it was plugged directly to the modem. What would be the problem? I cleared the cache also. And it only laggs with bf3, no other game.

 

Same boat as you and i have comcast, it started on the 30th of March 2016, I am getting packet loss, upload speeds dropping from 11mbps to as low as under 1. This does not show when doing speed tests on pc or iphone. Weirdest part for me is that im wired,
and the upload speeds slowing, along with the packet loss starts around the same time daily since Wed. March30. Today I went directly into my modem at 2:20pmEST and tested over and over every 20 min, all was well....until about 7pmEST. My guns wouldnt fire
in the division. So I checked and it went to crap again. Mind you NAT is open, today this was straight into modem so nothing else was online, same happened days ago with my comcast modem. We called them removed their provided modem and added our own netgear
one that we used to use. Like I said same packet loss/Upload speed loss, Ive tried it all so far....cords, ports, resetting,etc. Comcast has a tech coming and at this point I think its either a wire or an actual xbox server, the daily times it happens are
weird and nobody else seems to be having this issue. The live update could have deteriorated our speeds...ISP=MYSTIFIED, so is xbl support. I was gaming10 hrs a day prior to this just perfectly, destiny and the division.......ugh!!!!

Appreciate if you can post up the make and model of your Comcast networking device, along with the make and model of your "signal extender".

two outcomes gives you a bit of a false indication, and for two good reasons.

1. It is most likely that the speedtest from iPad is tested against a server based on best ping. Meaning, that the application throws out a ping request towards a well known cluster of test servers (often located in a datacenter as close-by from your location).
   The server that echo back with the best "avarage value", in ms, becomes the elected one. Whereas the Xbox One's network stats are not derived from a server based on best ping. Instead, this server is located in Seattle, WA (US).
   
2. Apple products are known to have one of the best performing Wi-Fi chipsets on the market, along with how they operate in an WLAN infrastructure. So, if you were to compare wireless performance with an Apple product, such as the iPad, in camparison to the
   Xbox One, it would be the same as to say that all cars are Volkswagen, when in fact all Volkswagens are cars, but all cars are not Volkswagens.
