Subwoofer only works for Blurays... not games or apps

Hey hoping someone can help me.... this issue is driving me crazy. I have a 7.1 setup running thru a Yamaha receiver that my Xbox one s is connected to via HDMI. The subwoofer and all speakers work just fine for Blurays (I have the Bluray passthrough option
enabled). My setting is 7.1 bitstream out. Most importantly why doesnt my subwoofer work for games and secondary for other apps like Netflix or YouTube? I have a really nice speaker/subwoofer setup and would love to get the full effect when I'm on the race
track or shooting aliens

Certain Apps Don't Support .1 Audio Support (Subwoofer)

I recently purchased a Sony str-dn840 audio receiver along with front speakers and a subwoofer. The FR/FL speakers work fine with all applications, and I've had no problems whatsoever in that area.

The subwoofer is a BIC PL-200 powered subwoofer. It works fine for most uses thus far. I've tested it directly with the receiver via a bluetooth connection to my phone. I've also watched movies on xbox video and the xbox netflix app. In both cases, movies
played fine with subwoofer output.

However, when I use several other apps, the subwoofer has no output - this is without changing any settings on the receiver compared to other applications that I mentioned above which work fine. The xbox apps specifically that DO NOT work with the subwoofer
are as follows: youtube, vimeo, and the IE browser app (I tried pandora via the IE app). I have yet to try it with the HBO go app

I've searched google and these forums and found nothing related, so anything on this topic would be helpful at this point.

The incorrect setting of "Large" would have affected everything, The "Large" setting suggests your speakers can handle all frequencies including low frequencies so the Receiver would send nothing to the subwoofer.

Sorry to hear the troubles you're having! To check, are you passing your Xbox One through a receiver or are you outputting the audio from your TV to a receiver?

everything is running thru my receiver. I have a projector setup in my room and the xbox one s is connected via hdmi to the receiver and then a i have another HDMI from receiver to projector. Again the subwoofer works fine for movies but doesn't for everything
else? Seems like it has to be a settings issue but I'm scratching my head as to what it is?

I should also mention this is only an issue with the Xbox one s, I have an Apple TV and the subwoofer works just fine all the time with that.

Can you share all your audio settings you have set up on your Xbox One? What is the bitstream format you have set up? Let us know so we can best help you out

 

I have My audio settings as

HDMI audio: 7.1 uncompressed

Optical audio: off

Bitstream format is grayed out

On my receiver I show PCM unless watching a bluray

My bluray settings are

Dolby digital dynamic range control auto and

Let my receiver decode audio

Apologies for the delay in response! Just to see if there's any change, can you change HDMI audio settings to see if there's any change outside of Blu-rays?

 

Thanks I have tried all HDMI audio options. bitstream out, 7.1 and 5.1 uncompressed, stereo, etc. I finally got bitstream out with dolby digital to work when I tested Halo. I also just tested a few minutes ago with a music video on YouTube but the sub
didn't work with that which I still think is weird because if I change it to stereo YouTube will play my sub but who wants to listen in stereo lol.

Again Blurays still work perfectly fine because I have enabled the setting that allows my receiver to decode Blurays.
