Styx Master of Shadows

Saw this on sale for £9 yesterday but dont know much about it, I watched some gameplay on Twitch but the guy was so inept he kept repeating the same section and I lost interest. Anyone played it and have any views?

Anyone here played styx master of shadows? for £6 I'm almost tempted to take the risk.

Ezio and Sam Fisher did the dirty and gave birth to a goblin - Looks bloody good though!

 

It's on sale for €12.00. I thought about buying it. I heard it was only ok. Supposedly it can be quite frustrating.

Baring in mind it's just one persons opinion but my son purchased it on release, like brandiesel1 above, he said it can be quite tricky and frustrating but overall he enjoyed it, not the best game out there but it was fun as long as you have patience to
stick with it.

Quite tempted myself by this when I get a few other games finished off.

Quite a few reviews marked this down for it's frustrating and dodgy control system but as this video review below says, the control system was patched after release.

I actually jumped on this myself as I had a look at some gameplay vids and it really looked like my thing. Whoever's videos they were really talked the game up too, which probably had something to do with me buying it, but I won't complain at $15 if it's
bad.

I won't be playing it for a while though as GTA San Andreas was finally $5.00 again, so will be playing that and finishing Far Cry 4 first.

 

I just thought I'd report back that I started this and I personally think it's actually really good, very solid stealth game and pretty much has everything I'd look for in such a game.

Number 1 being that you have manual saves which take you back to the exact spot you saved, always great for trying different methods for tough sections.

The world reminds me a lot of dishonoured and actually quite impressed at how nice some of it looks. I haven't had any issues with the controls so far, I guess that patch did its job!

I picked it up myself.

I've only played very little so far but early impressions are very good especially for the price.

 

I would say this whole game just reminds me of dishonoured and I love it, it's actually quite challenging too, I'm only on normal, but that introduction took me a few hours, haha. I can't wait to get more stealth upgrades, invisibility while standing still
is something I really like in these games.

The only gripe I would have with it so far, is the voice acting. It seems very monotone, curious to know more about Styx's origin though.

 

Dishonored is one of my favourite games on the 360, Sounds better all the time.

 

I just finished my first play through and I have to say, it was really good, especially for the price I paid.

The story is actually quite intricate and I loved the ending, I can see how some people had issues with controls before the patch as grabbing the ledges can be hit and miss, but only when climbing upwards, so it's really minor and maybe the angle is more
to blame than anything.

One tip I definitely have is that your 'vision' and 'clone' powers can be used without cost to your amber as long as the clone doesn't die or you use another power while in your vision. I was probably half way through the game before I noticed that and not
sure if it tells you anywhere, but using the vision helps so much when looking at what path to take.

Also just reminder to keep two manual saves and regularly alternate between them, I do this for a lot of games, but never use the back up save. I would go back two saves regularly in this game. Anyway, hope you enjoy it when you get around to it!
