Student discounts

Microsoft has multiple student discounts already for differnt software programs. Why don't they bring it to Xbox ?

Because you should be studying, not playing video games.

 

That's up to the individual. If Microsoft offered student discounts it would give them advantage over Sony.

 

How would you prove yourself to be a student on xbox live?

Couldn`t everyone claim to be a student and get money off?

 

Microsoft already offers deals to students using dreamspark. You get windows 7 or 8 for free by proving you go to university. So it wouldn't be hard to integrate it. On dreamspark you use your university email and account log in. So it wouldn't be hard.

 

Would you be using the Xbox and it's software for educational purposes? Or for getting Kill streaks on Call of Doody?

 

Assassins creed 2 basically got me through my art history class, but I agree with the people saying there is no need for this as it doesn't have a main educational function

 

This isn't a educational reason. It would just increase sales to students. What's better for Xbox no sales or more sales but at a cheaper price and as I mentioned before it would cause more students to buy a Xbox over a play station giving them a larger
fan base of people paying full price when the students came out of school.

 

But why do students deserve to get a discount more than anyone else if its not educational?

Why shouldn`t the people working jobs 10 hours a day qualify for the same discount?

Surely that would increase sales and xbox fan base too?

 

For what the rest of your life ? Why would Xbox wanna give people that work ten a hours a day a deal when if the they give students a discount and they might work 6-8 hours a day and make over a hundred thousand a year?

 

You are missing my point..

If the student discount is not for educational purposes, why should students get the discount?

If you say its for microsofts financial gain, surely the people out there earning money and with disposable incomes should get the discount, not students.

 

I was a student with a job and had no issue buying XBL Gold with that money, just buy it in bulk when there's a discount , a few weeks ago there was a year of XBL for 35€ instead of 60 , just buy 2 then

But then again I never really had time to game back then

 

They should have senior citizen discounts. It will broaden their market and introduce a new(old) breed of gamer. Kinect wheelchair racing can be HUGE. Not to mention aiding in physical therapy. My father in law would definately game more if he could afford
his own system. Just saying. And where are the middle aged dad discounts. Thats what I really need. Maybe I should go back to school.
