    Stuck on parental consent


    Having an issue setting up an account for my son. Created a new outlook.com address for him, paid the $0.50 to prove I'm an adult to that service.

    Go to xbox.com, sign in as the new account, step through the process including logging in as my (parent) account.

    Just stops. Spins, spins, spins.

    Verified all billing data, birthdays, region codes etc. Even tried sending the new account a $5 card in case it needed some billing data.

    Had a session with support, but after an hour and a half (yes, really), they ended the chat session. Too hard?

    If any other support person wants to help, I can forward the transcript.

    He just wants to be able to download some extra stuff for Minecraft...

    Adult account stuck in parental consent loop

    I have had the same xbox live account for about 9 years. This morning my son got on to play PvZ and for some reason it brought up a screen to enter first and last name, and birth date. So my kid not having any idea what this was enters his name and birthday.

    Now I am completely locked out of my account. From the xbox I just go in a loop where I try to sign on, click I am the parent, enter the account password, and go right back to the screen where I click I am the parent.

    If I go to the web to sign into the account it completely locks me out of the account. I am blocked by a page for child consent and a message about You need a parent's permission. I click I am the parent, enter my birthday, and enter a CC. It tells me that
    my CC info must match the info on file (and shows my sons name). When I submit it, it fails to authorize and I am completely stuck with recovering the account.

    Please help me resolve this issue.

    If the date of birth on your Microsoft account shows that you're under a certain age, Xbox is required to request parental consent for you to use Xbox Live.

    If you're an adult, but you got a message asking for parental consent, it's because you're a child in your Microsoft family.

    Solution

    If you're of an age that requires parental consent, follow the steps on your Xbox to have your parent sign in and add you to their Microsoft family.

    If you're over the age requiring parental consent, have your parent remove you from the family. They'll have to sign in to
