I'm having pretty much the same problem. Not getting a black screen but it's frozen on the home screen. Tried moving around through kinect but won't let me get past games and apps. I've tried the power cycle but I don't have any other hdmi cords to try
the other solutions. Any help on where I go from here would be appreciated.

Ugh I'm going to be *** if the only way to fix it is getting a new one smh
