Stuck on a black screen after green start-up screen. Not like other black screen problems on ...

So the USB was blank? I don't think my USB ports are getting power at start up did you have that problem? Just keep trying and trying and it worked eventually?

 

No doubt about MS not caring. Does anyone else find it wierd that it's happening now all of a sudden?

 

no I actualy had the system restore file on it but the xbox didn't use it. An hour or two ago I ended up having to do the actal restore file as my xbox wouldn't get past the black screen upon start up again. it worked fine until I tried downloading all my
games back and then everything froze and I had to turn my system off. Im pretty sure it has to do with all the stuff going on, on Microsofts side. Everyones systems started acting up right around E3 time. This is the same thing that happened with lots of people
when the Witcher 3 was just released. Im so irritated with Microsoft its been nothing but problems since the first day I got an Xbox One.

 

How about this. Does the memory stick need to be USB 3.0 to work?

 

Im having the same issue but when I try turn mine off normally the xbox logo flashes like its trying to donwload something it stays there for like 5 mins then the console resets back to the green screen and then followed by a black screen

Okay, so I recently had this problem and I was beyond upset about it. Like the other posts my xbox would boot up with the green screen then go black and stay that way. I had it working during the morning and I changed my setting to sign in automatically.
That is the only thing that I know of that could have caused this problem. After countless hours of research and trial and error I got it to work again. I used the Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool, and by used I mean that I grabbed a flashdrive and downloaded
the Restore Faculty Defaults. Make sure to change the format of your flashdrive to NTFS before downloading though. Plug the flashdrive into the xbox and start the process. You unplug the xbox for a few seconds, plug it back in and hold the bind key on the
side of the xbox while holding the eject button on the front at the same time. Turn on the xbox while doing this and wait approx. 10 seconds and you should hear a beep, wait a few more seconds and you should hear another beep. I then unplugged my falshdrive
from the xbox, waited a few more seconds and wouldn't you know it, it showed more than just a black screen, it was completely restarting. This didn't work the first time that I did it so I highly recommend trying more than once if it doesn't work the first
time for you. I had to download all of my games again but that wasn't a huge deal because the saves are still good thanks to Microsoft doing at least doing something right. I really hope this helps someone down the road.

 

This happened to my son yesterday - the Xbox (6 mths old) was working fine in the morning but just gave the black screen after the green boot up screen in the evening. We tried the power down scenario several times and then Microsoft emailed me over the
instructions and link for the system update diagnostic - that froze at about 75% for nearly an hour so we had to do the system restore. Son is gutted as he has lost his story mode in gta after 5 mths work but hopefully once he installs all games etc again
it will be ok except for that. Not impressed but a quicker solution to sending it off and Microsoft wiping it anyway. I haven't found any other solution. Good luck.

 

Experienced the same issue with the black screen right after the Green Xbox green logo comes up with a Day one edition. Tried every powering off step, unplugging for 2 hours, etc no luck. Ended up using the link below to resolve with a reset to factory settings
using the USB stick. had to reload all games but the system was up and running in under 5 minutes. So far so good.
