    Stuck in Minecraft Beta that I did not sign up for.


    Short version

    Sister wanted to play Minecraft so I installed it. The game launches in Beta mode and she is unable to play with a friend.

    After doing some digging I figured out that there is an insider program for Minecraft Beta. I have to install Insider and sure enough, I am in the program. But I have never signed up for this so not sure why I am in the program.

    I click to leave the beta and followed the instruction I have seen everywhere for people complaining about this.

    Left Beta, Uninstalled Minecraft, Hard booted Xbox, reinstalled from the store. After tinkering with this for over an hour it will only download the beta version.

    The only other note to add is every time I try to install the game it will stop install after 25MB and force me to click install again to finish it. I have made sure to clear all data including user data.

    Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

    The version of Minecraft that you are playing (1.7.0.9) is a Beta version. Did you, or someone on your console sign up for the Minecraft Beta, as part of the Xbox Insiders program? Version 1.6.1 is the current retail release.

    If you want to go back to 1.6.1 you will have to leave the Beta program, and then uninstall, and re-install Minecraft once you are out of the Beta. See the guide and FAQ here: https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2018/07/09/minecraft-beta-guide-and-faqs/

    Is it possible that your friends signed up for the Minecraft Beta in the Insider App?

    If that's the case, your friends either need to leave the Minecraft Beta and play on the "regular" version, or you'll have to install the Xbox Insider App, and join the Minecraft Beta as well.
