Stuck hello message in start up

Hi, when I turn my Xbox one on, it says Hi Timothy when it signs me in. That message used to disappear but now it's stuck on the screen and won't disappear.

It's hindering me watching Netflix and playing games to the point I can't anymore.

What can I do to solve this?

Hey there,

Let's start out with these steps:

Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One until the console powers down.

Remove the power cable from the back and let it sit for 3 minutes.

Plug your Xbox One back in and power on to see if the issue remains.

If the issue does come back, the next step we recommend trying is a
Factory Restore on your Xbox One console. Be sure to select Reset and keep my games & apps!

Hello message stuck

hi

Just logged on and signed into my account and the 'Hi (name)' message came up at the bottom of the screen.

Bad thing is, it won't disappear...

I can still play in the background yet it bugs me and some games I need to see the things it is blocking...

All I've tried is restarting it...

Hi

Firstly can you try and carry out a console hard reset by pressing and holding the Xbox button / logo on the front of the console for 5-10 seconds and after the console has powered down wait for about one minute and power it back up to see if this helps
with your problem.

Hello Suezyg! if the installation is stuck at a certain percentage, then you may want to goto settings>power and start up>restart now. This should unfreeze the installation.

We seen you did a soft factory reset where you keep games and apps. Have you thought about a
Factory reset
, where you remove everything and start from scratch. It is most likely a game or app that needs the connection. This way you can install a couple games try it offline, see if message pops up. Continue to do a couple or one at a time until you get all
you want installed. And also check after each one to see if message pops. If it does, then you know what game or app is causing it.

Yes lol, I think it's used as a general statement because pretty much everything requires internet on the Xbox One. Playing MP games, getting achievements, using apps like YouTube or Netflix, watching streams.... everything that is featured on the One
requires internet so you may always have to deal with that message wanting you to go online each time you start it up. I'm sorry for this, I know once you've seen it 10 times, you don't need to see it again lol.

Sadly it might be one of those notifications
that is programmed to pop up every time it detects you're offline and there may not be a way to disable it. Good luck with it.
