Struggling to understand XBox One Guest and visitor logins.

To set the scene I have an XBox Series S and my Grandsons have an XBox One S and we play Minecraft together online because we live 2 hours travel time apart.

1 When they visited one time I thought I would let them play Minecraft (not multiplayer) just on my XBox. I logged in to my XBox but they could not use my controller because I am left handed and have swapped joysticks i.e. L to R and R to L and have remapped/swapped A,B X and Y with the D-Pad I tried creating a Guest profile but it still adopted my controller settings. Is it possible, and if so how, to create another profile but with different controller settings for the one controller?

2 if they were to bring their own controllers from home how would I connect them to my XBox so that they could use their own controllers with their own controller settings?

Thank you for responding. On the world creation screen, you will see "game settings" on the right side. Towards the top end, you will see "default player permission" make sure this is set to "member" and not to "visitor." The current state of your guest
accounts coincide with the permissions described under the "visitor" setting. Hope this helps!

I have one problem what happens if i send my xbox one s to microsoft visitor center because i have sent my xbox one s to the microsoft visitor center will they repair my xbox one s cause its over there now in microsoft visitor center what should i do

Thanks. However the visitors are kids (for the moment 8 year olds), so this would need to be an age restricted account.

Would I need to create this as a family account, and then pay for it as I needed to do for my child's account?

Also, I would like to understand why all other games are accepting the Xbox One X functinality of temporary visitor accounts, but Minecraft does not. Is there a bug in Minecraft Xbox One disc version?
