strict nat

i have done everything i can think of as well as everything i have found online to get and keep my nat open i can get it open but then it switches back im with rogers smc3gdn modem with a dlink router my 360 has always had open nat with the same configuration
whats going on????

Wired connection seems to work.

NAT is showing as 'strict'. Wonder why the wireless is playing up.

If it's still strict after you open the proper ports, try resetting your modem and router, then hard reset your console.

This site will help you open the right ports
Open Port

Just select your router and follow the instructions. Do not download anything from the site, it's not necessary. It's a safe site, but port forwarding manually is very easy.

 

just an update on my ps4 i have a type 2 nat which is open running same set up so im guessing its on Microsoft's end

 

The 360 and One use the same ports, and it sounds like they are competing for them, resulting in fluctuating NAT status. To get open NAT on both simultaneously, you need a router with good, working UPnP (many home routers have broken UPnP). You need to
disable any manual port forwards or DMZ you setup for either Xbox and let UPnP forward the ports.

 

How i sorted my nat issue

Select on your router upnp

Turn router off

turn xbox off

turn router on

turn xbox on

than hard reset xbox one

reset router

nat has stayed open for me stayed open for the last 4 months

 

i have done that many times it goes open but once i turn the console off and back on it goes strict again

 

ok after having my xbox 360 in dmz i put the one in dmz still strict nat took it back out got an open nat shut xbox down and restarted now i have a moderate nat says its behind a upnp port restricted nat have turned upnp off rebooted router turned upnp on
rebooted router rebooted xbox one still moderate WTH

 

Have you updated your router firmware? Depending on the D-Link router you have having UPNP on and no ports forwarded you should have no issues.

 

Hey, I've had this same prob since I got the Xbox One and just fixed it. I had to go back into the SMC and give my router (netgear r6300) a static IP and then put that static IP into the DMZ thereby forwarding every port to the router. It not until you do
this that your router can than forward on the ports to the xbox.

my dlink router does have the latest firmware my smc router is set in bridge mode so it is just a cable modem now. when i shut the xbox off it will some times get open and sometimes get strict, if its strict and i reboot the router most of the time i will
then get an open nat. this is some crazy stuff happening here

 

I would recommend checking the Network Hardware forums (forums.xbox.com/.../default.aspx) and checking if your network hardware is able to support
multiple consoles (Select your devices and check under the Overview topic to view known issues and multiple console support). Certain devices are unable to support multiple consoles with Open NAT types.

 

Just finally fixed this today on mine....first thing , get modem ONLY ....router in bridge was a problem.....2 nd was a 45 dollar netgear router wnr2000....didn't need to forward anything , also, port TRIGGERING is preferable to port FORWARDING ....you
can trigger the proper ports for 'any" device without giving static ip's ....so they are not compeating for them....have open nat on all consoles now.....COULD NOT achieve this with the modem/router combo or when in bridge mode .....

 

Bimnog, not to step on your toes but there is no reason to switch anything out. For those of you with your ISP router in bridge mode and using you own personal router. I notice one person say that it was in bridge mode so it's not the problem, however, that
is exactly the problem. No, you don't have to switch it out for a new modem. The problem is, even though it is is bridge mode, it is still blocking ports. You need to go into the modem and set a static ip address for your personal router and then put that
ip address in the dmz. To be safe, I would also disable all security measures in this modem, letting your personal router take over.

By doing this, all ports will be forwarded to your personal router. Only then can ports be forwarded on to your devices.
