    Strict NAT


    Hello all.

    I'm a network engineer representing roughly 5 Internet Service providers in a 4 state area.

    We are having an issue on our network where customers are reporting that they are consistently "NAT TYPE: STRICT" on our network and its impacting voice communication within several games Warzone, Destiny, Fortnite etc.

    We have tried using uPnP to bypass the strict nat, as well as created the xbox specific firewall rules to no avail.

    Can anyone here explain to me exactly what the xbox is testing for/against when it determines nat type?

    Can anyone here tell me which port voice traffic is using on xbox live?

    I've opened a ticket with our vendor already to address this same issue. Any information that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.

    Okay, it may be down to your NAT Type being strict or moderate. Have a look at the

    Nat Type Strict (Or Moderate)     to find out if you have a strict or moderate NAT Type, and how to resolve it.
