Strict NAT. Will not open after trying all options. Losing my mind.

Is there anyway for me to just get a moderate nat? The 5 times it's been moderate I could at least hear my friends.

 

As your NAT keeps changing this drastically it's really possible that you may be on a shared IP somehow. Phone your ISP again to have this verified. Did they give you any time frame on their end?

This is not a Xbox issue. It's an issue of your router / modem configuration or your ISP.

Anyway, please start a new post with your problem to get better tailored help on your problem and to not nix up this thread. please provide also some more detailed information on your network setup as requested in one of the sticky posts in this forum. Thank

Little update. I haven't been back here in a bit because I was waiting on my ISP to get back to me and the main friend I've been playing with has an open nat so if I party up with him and other friends joined I could hear all of them.

So my ISP called and said that in order for my Xbox One to have an open nat they will have to issue a static IP and then they would make me set my router to bridge mode., I believe, and that should open it up. They said it costs them $20 a month to maintain
a static IP, which they said they would split with me. So I would pay ten dollars extra a month which isn't a problem since my internet is included in rent. I told them to go ahead and never heard back from them, kept callin the guy back and he never answered.
Called the main nuanced today and somehow my case fell through the cracks and they told me they would get back on it and have it done by Monday.

So does this sound like it should fix the issue? Giving me a static IP and setting my router to bridge mode?

And with the whole bridge mode thing he kinda said that in passing and said we'd worry about that after getting the static ip issued so I could be wrong on that part. But either way they should get me this IP by Monday or tuesday

 

Do you have the latest Firmware for your router? If not - you have to update ! You can save your settings before update. Is DHCP activated for your Router?

2 Things you can try:

Instead of your Netgear router plug in the xbox one directly to the Internet - the NAT MUST be open - if not it´s a Problem with your Provider ! If the NAT is then open - you have a Problem with your Router.

If this doesn´t work you can try to set your Router in another IP Range:

For example:

My cable Modem has 192.168.100.1

My Netgear router is 192.168.1.1

So it´s NOT the same. There could be a Problem if your Router and your Modem (the one of your Provider) are in the same ranges.

 

I read now the Bridge Mode thing - THIS means that you have double NAT - one of your Netgear router and one of your Provider. To set their Modem to bridgemode costs you extra Money? I can´t believe. Is this Modem in your house/room? If yes - can you access
it? If yes YOU can set it to bridgemode. If it works on bridgemode its only a Modem then wit NO NAT. So you need a Router and can use Port Forward OR UPnP or Port trigger.

A Static IP often costs Money - but you don´t need it if you only need the Modem bridged. If it´s in bridge Mode all will run "normally"

 

I already called to see if they could bridge my modem because I don't have a modem, just an Ethernet port in the wall that I plug the router up to (I thought maybe the modem was behind the wall), but they said they don't use modems, just fiber optic cables?
So that's out of the question. Also plugging my Xbox directly to the wall port is still showing strict so it's definitely a double nat issue.

I talked to them today and they said "this static IP is a lot more complicated than we thought" and that they are still working on it. They said they have multiple customers having the same issue with the Xbox One (like I said before, I hooked up my 360
and the nat was open, no problem). So I think my ISP is just a little bit... Behind the times...

 

I'm having the same problem it randomly switches from open to strict. I have tried everything router related port forward, dmz, upnp, different routers. It seems that i can get my nat open most of the time by just doing the multiplayer test with the 4 bumper
test repeatedly, that seems to work. Still after its opened it will randomly revert back to strict. Their is no way this isn't on Microsoft's end no other device i own has strict nat. I think its the way it communicates with your internet jumping to strict
sometimes and causing you to repeatedly do the MP test until it communicates perfectly and reverts to open. Also thought i would like to state up until lately it would just switch between open and occasionally it would switch to moderate but i don't think
ever strict but maybe a couple times.

 

ask your Provider if you get a NAT from them ALSO - if yes - ask them to bridge your connection so you can use your Router and have only the NAT of your Router - it seems your are double Natted....

 

Having the same issue out of nowhere. Now randomly when I turn on my xbox it will not be connected at all. Then I go to connect and it will only do a moderate or strict. I will reset my router and then sometimes it will go on open. A few days later if I
turn it on again it is on moderate or strict. I have a day one edition and this has never happened before until recently. My 360 gets a constant connection just fine as well as my other wireless devices.
